Hey all.. Just got back from a long trip with the glad to some awesome deep sand trails and beach driven (will post to another thread with pics). I recently put on some new A/t's and man do I love them. the toyo's where much improvement over the M/t's and clocked in at 22MPG's on average. The bounce though in the rear and some what in the front but, not as bad as the rear. On the highway and even on roads. On the high way if there are bumps or a divide in the highway going around the corner and straight always the bounce from side to side really is not fun at times. also happens at slow speeds 25/30 mph say on rough roads. I thought it was just something to get use to but, after a bunch of research it appears that is not something that is typical or totally normal.. My 2022 Glad is a willy config no lift and has tow package (not max tow) A/t's with about 36PSI. I dont rock climb but, deep sand, general dirt packed trails or muddy areas to get the toys where they need to be and camping.
The research I have done on this great forum along with just general shock/sprint research looks to be possibly a soft sprint with a shock that is not stiff enough to handle a soft spring.
My thought is to upgrade the shock to either the fox 2.0 or elite series 2.5 or falcon sp2 3.3 to stiffen the rebound. as a side thought I was also thinking that maybe should have been handled with the factory build an (big big biggggggg stretch here go easy ) could be a dealer issue...

Curious what others think about this scenario and shock choice?

What PSI are you airing the tires to? Could be as simple as being over-inflated.
I tried at a few different.. The M/t's had the same issue except a little worse. The current PSI in the A/t's are 36. When they first were installed they had them at 40.

Lighter tire will accentuate the issue. I had that on an off-ramp when I had on the Falcon Wildpeak AT3Ws, but since switching to the MTs that are a little stiffer, it's less noticable.

I don't think over-inflation is the root cause here. Overly inflated tires would be very stiff and not rock back and forth. Sounds like soft/blown shocks and the exact behavior that pushed me to pull off the stock Rubi Fox shocks and replace them with something stiffer. I wanted more ride control.

What setup did you do be up going with ? I was figuring it was just the hock and not the spring but, before I start trying to reinvent the wheel some else must have been into the same thing and totally agree it’s not a inflation issue at this point.

I have a different starting point than you with the stock Rubicon suspension. I'm not sure if the Willys has the same spring rate or not (they're pretty soft). I ended up going with the Eibach Pro-Truck shocks since they're monotube, were actually in stock (unlike the Bilsteins), and supposedly have a slightly softer ride than the Billies. I just read the other thread and what you said in that tread sounds like everything I am looking for.

Thanks for the pointer !! I am going to look for those shocks now!

I had the same concerns and a month after purchasing the truck I ordered Fox 2.5's. I know they're expensive but the ride was totally different and it felt super planted to the road. Plus you can dial them in for your comfort with the compression settings.
That was on my 1st Gladiator Rubicon. I now have a Willys diesel and kept the shocks. The shocks feel the same between the two suspension.

40 is way high, depending on size, 36 might even be high.
Hard or over-inflated tires want to bounce like a rubber ball on concrete.

I think I experience what you’re describing. Going through a dip the rear passenger side seems to pull or dip more. My thought was it is normal operation caused by the trackbar. It mounts to the frame on the right side. My non-engineer brain thinks that corner just gets pulled differently because of it.

also, I have my stock wildpeaks at 33 psi. 40 is way too much.

I believe it is a combination of the Springs and shocks. I have the Falcon SP2 3.3 shocks with Clayton 3.5" lift overland plus springs. I set the shocks at "2.1" setting while off-road to avoid "side to side" motion. At setting "1", the shocks are too soft and the side to side motion is too much. On the road, I am running setting 2.4 or 2.5. This is the settings I like for my springs.
Note: the SP setting is set to low (cold) - ie. the shock shaft is turned to the low setting.

If you keep the stock springs, you can play with the shock shaft setting (soft and stiffer) and the shock dial settings (soft to stiffer) to get it dialed in to your liking.

I have a Willy's, and I also think they are sprung soft. I did a 1.5 leveling kit in the front and 3/4" in the rear and I think it's much better. I went heavier with the tires though.

My .02 it's the soft springs / shocks

The shocks need more rebound dampening. I would think that King has figured this all out by now. Look where the rear shocks attach to the frame,, way to far forward IMO.

I feel like my JTR wallows at highway speed. Rocking back and forth (left/right).
I am thinking about going with the Clayton 1.5 leveling kit for higher spring rates.
