Do head light revolution sv4 bulbs. They pop into your halogen housing and are bright!
Disregard the light snobs who will absolutely complain about cut off and other nonsense. Ive never once been flashed for blinding anyone and can see better at night than factory LEDS.

Way less expensive

This thread had me curious. Never realized the payload on some of these JTs were so close to some JLUs. Also you can tell my JT was an early one. It’s got a JLU on the warning sticker, my JLU has a non identified Model ?

Careful of Freedoms, they carry some heavy options.

Love mine! But think my payload was around 1400 off the lot.

My wife's JKU has a higher payload than my JT. Mine is 1216. I can't remember what hers is, but it's more. But I can fit the bigger, more awkwardly shaped, and dirtier things in the JT. Also, for anyone curious, a Grand Cherokee has more towing capacity than a gladiator too. Things just don't make sense anymore. Haha.

Mine is one of the lower ones that ive seen posted.
Honestly didn't realize JT's could go this low on load capacity.

My '22 Max Tow is rated at 1,476. Just went outside to look. My previous '16 JK two door was like 850. I'm sure I was routinely overweight.

As for the OP...

I'd go for the Max Tow, with minimal options. You add factory LED's if you like when you order, or you can pick from various aftermarket options that are great. There are also numerous quality aftermarket bumpers, including some aluminum ones that may save you some weight.

With my Sport S (other than max tow) I added the tech pack for the nice gauge cluster and proximity entry, aux switches, and hard top. Perfectly optioned for my use.

This makes it look like it......... but it's not clear -

but maybe he's just saying his camping gear needs plus those of his wife and son.

I've got you beat and I can't figure this one out - it's the same damned bloody truck, just 2 years newer and yet is 100 pounds LESS payload than my 2020 was. HUH?
Maybe it's the aux switches?
Thank god I didn't get a diesel! I'd be under 900.
My wife's 2021 Grand Cherokee has me beat by over 200 pounds! And it's a station wagon!

That may have more to do with options than engine choice. Mine is an overland diesel with the regular bumpers and minivan tires, and I have 1212 lbs of capacity.

My point was that I had another loaded Overland that had a higher rating than this one. If it was the same one with a diesel, it would be lower.
If this gasser with 930 payload had the added weight of a diesel it would have under 900.
I know what reduced the payload as we've discussed that ad nauseum for the last couple of years LOL

Remember though when discussing the difference in payload and tow ratings that we are still discussing the same trucks. It’s not like the max tow package gives you a different frame, engine, and transmission that is unique. My Mojave has a lower payload and tow rating because the springs are softer, if I really cared about towing or hauling I would add some airbags and not worry.

One other question, is the ride quality compromised driving the vehicle on or off road while not towing or carrying a load if I get the Max Towing Package?

Thanks,

Geoff

First, you probably haven't driven extensively in any trim level of JT, so the ride of any of them is going to be different for you. Not knowing what you're coming out of, it could be a HUGE difference.

Second, any time you put on heavier springs, whether coil or leaf, it is going to be a stiffer and possibly bouncier ride than you're used to.
The shocks you'll get, likely mid level Monroe's, are going to be valved for whatever weight range MOPAR specced to the manufacturer. So my first suggestion would be the least expensive shock out there with adjust ability in it, the Rancho 9000 series. You can get all 4 shocks for under $400 from rockauto.com. If you want more info, they are on the Board and can be found @RanchoShocks and by me doing that, they've just gotten a notice and will probably check in this thread tomorrow.

Aluminum or stubby bumpers help reduce weight. Winches are great, but add weight to the front, compromising the springs you have up there.
