Reminds me of Chinese people at a high end Vegas buffet when the King Crab gets put out.

@Gvsukids

So the TP thing is world wide question. Why? My thought is it represents the most comfortable aspect of the most personal part of survival mechanism.
Maybe TP is somehow representing 'Civilization' subconsciously & people are desperately trying to cling to something physical in an effort to keep from falling back to the Dark Ages.

And why the lines for ammo and guns? Are they planning on shooting the virus out of the air if it gets near their house?
If civilization collapses, those with alcohol, ammunition, and TP will be very wealthy. All are excellent barter items.

We got a positive at my job, a Maverick truck driver who drives for us tested positive. I and pretty much everyone else here talk to this guy daily. The sent the Maverick dispatch manager home for two weeks for quarantine. As far as us they seem to not give a crap about our well being. Our operations manager is getting tested today. He had Bronchitis, but started running a fever on Sunday. The rest of us here are trying to figure out what we should do. I work for Weyerhaeuser in Concord, NC the Iredall County case is our truck driver. They had a meeting with us yesterday and told us that it would be business as usual but to wipe our hands with sanitize everything on our Forklifts. This is crazy stuff. Not sure what the guidelines are we should be following and neither does management. We have truck drivers in and out of here daily with deliveries from all over the country.

read the CDC information on their website! Basically coronavirus is a virus that causes colds. Covid19 is a mutation of that in which the illness is magnified. Call it a cold virus on steroids if you will. The coronavirus itself isn’t killing anyone but the effects of it, UNCHECKED, can. In other words, if infected you will basically have a REALLY bad cold, (fever, headaches from the fever, coughing as it is an upper respiratory infection) but unchecked, it can develop into pneumonia or cause heart problems for those with pre-existing health conditions. (See previous post on prior page.)
Just like any other cold, there is no cure. It has to run its course. Most people get past it with just Fever reducers to keep their fever from getting too high and drinking plenty of fluids. As far as prevention, just like when everyone is coming down with any other cold virus going around, the best way to mitigate your chances of contraction is washing you hands regularly, especially before eating. Keep things as sanitary as possible. If you develop any symptoms, wear a dust mask, face mask, whatever so as to lesson the chance of spreading it to those around you. A mask will not keep you from getting it but can help stop you from spreading it. Think of it this way, if I’m sick and cough on you a mask only protects your mouth and nose but if you have it, the mask helps prevent you from accidentally coughing on me. Hope that makes sense.
Biggest thing to remember is don’t freak out and panic about it. Some people have been symptomatic with very little infection and others have been exposed but had very little illness from it. It’s all kinds of random as to how it will affect different people. Call your doctor if you DO get sick and follow their advise. If you and your coworkers have been exposed already, there is nothing you can do about it now, aside from taking care of yourself and letting your body recover. There are common sense things you can do to lessen you chances of contracting it and common sense things you can do to help prevent the spread of it. In the end, use your head and some common sense and you should be just fine.

What about people testing positive but not showing signs of being sick. I mean how do we know who has it and who don't. In NC unless your showing signs or over 50 your not getting tested. We have definitely been exposed, all of us. My thing is they are sending our sales team home to work, expecting us to stay on and work and get it done, keep making that money for the company. I'm not worried about getting it and dying, I'm worried about getting it and spreading it. I'm pretty healthy myself, I run, bike and swim, I'm in pretty good shape for 42 yrs old not to be bragging but I got people I'm around that it could affect in pretty bad way.

Kudos to you for thinking of others, when so many people (hand sanitizer hoarders/resellers) are thinking only of themselves. Hopefully your employer will have some answers about how to better protect you and those you interact with. In the absence of that, CDC has a lot of guidance, and yes much of it is common sense. The hard part is social distancing, and I don't know how you would be able to make that happen (other than when you're in your truck, you're quarantined there!).

@Jeeperjamie you seem like the best kind of people. What I can say is you've answered my question about how we are keeping the economy going. Thank you for your sacrifices to keep goods available. keep trucking. Also, I'm not an authority on it, just repeating the news: Everybody is going to get this eventually so it will not be your or anyone else's fault if a person becomes severely ill or worse. All the social distance and quarantine does is slowdown. If ten trucks unload at the same time with only five docks, it's a cluster. Same thing in a hospital. We want the flow of patients to be regular so in a couple weeks the first ones are healed up and headed out the back door with new ones coming in the front. Orderly fashion and all that. Hospitals will be busy for a long while. Hopefully not overflowing with people in the hallways and on the lawn out front.

Over the last 6 months, $50k invested in my Gladiator is looking pretty good compared to putting it the stock market. With depreciation on a new vehicle the loss is probably close to the same, but the truck is a way more fun way to lose money.
Finally, someone with solid perspective!

this virus is not fake news, nor is it some wacko plot against Donnie.
this is a real global threat and we will be in for a rough ride.
be safe.

You will have a hard time convincing many of regulars here how sever this unprecedented crisis is and how not taking it seriously and acting month ago may have cost us and will have a longer lasting disastrous affect. Everyone Follow the CDC guidelines, limit contact, stay safe and healthy.

Yeah it's 100% real and it's spreading like wild fire. Two more people at my job may have it. Both have been tested and came up negative for the flu having flu like symptoms. They all have the symptoms of Coronavirus. They test for the flu first and if that comes back negative then they test for the other. Doctor told both of them if the flu test comes back negative then it's a 95% chance their infected. One of the twos wife is getting tested as well with the same symptoms.and came up negative for the flu so this is real, no fake news. I'm seeing it first hand.

my next door neighbor has it - tested positive last weekend. I brought them groceries yesterday and had a conversation through their glass front door.

They are all in quarantine for 10 more days, and they have 3 small kids ages 3 through 8.

I own a Jeep and a Gladiator at that. I’m adventurous “ it’s a Jeep thing”. Fuck this virus. Sitting in Ohare ready to board a plane and headed for a boat leaving the Dominican Republic for. A Week in the Siver Banks diving with humpback whales In their breeding grounds.

Hoping to video a whale calving. Go big or stay home and cower

Fuck the hype. Take care leave, the old and young some room. Practice safe containment and live your life
