Cut down a 1-1/2 inch diameter tube or so
to about 12 inches in length or more.
Pick a size to fit your 4-way lug wrench.
Provides comfort and leverage
to break loose stubborn fasteners.

Slide it over the tool handle and
adjust the length to fit the space available.
Beat down one end with a hammer
to an oval shape to fit over wrenches.

The one for the tractor
is a 2.5-inch diameter tube four feet long.

Im all in on a battery impact for taking lugs OFF at full force. I’ll tone it down for putting them back on. Got really tired of busting my arse trying to loosen those suckers up. I torque to 130 every time. Doesn’t mean I can loosen 130.

I found that my cordless impact tightens lug nuts almost perfectly if you let it go for about five clacka-lackas before you let off the trigger.

I tighten on setting 1 with the Bauer. I’ve identified 1 lug that has already been over torqued at some point before I purchased it. It still has a sticky spot but nothing I can’t manage to finesse through. I’m very leery of hitting it hard putting tires back on. Heard somewhere that these are fairly susceptible to thread damage on the factory studs.

I'm old school...and old. I still use a good ol' fashion 4-Way to loosen the lugs, then give it a good spin to remove them. It's a good workout, and about the only workout I get these days. I'm thankful for the 130lb torque spec x 5 per wheel. My F150 was 6 lugs at 150lbs per wheel!

Nice! I like my Bauer impact with an advertised 475 ft. lbs. nut busting torque.
Mode 1 – 1,000 RPM
Mode 2 – 1,800 RPM
Mode 3 – 2,300 RPM

That's why I like my Bauer impact. It's not too aggressive to cause over-torquing, but it gets it close enough that I don't need to do a lot of tightening with the torque wrench.

This cracked me up a little bit.

Bro. This isn't some secret sauce at a restaurant. It's not like Jeeps are using a proprietary socket size. I am curious which two wrenches he selected. I guess you gotta hold back up with the adjustable wrench everywhere else and round your bolts and nuts off.

I don't personally like hitting the trail hoping a bare minimum tool set can fix a problem - but many folks may not be like me and also servicing their fiance's or mothers car at a moments notice in any given parking lot - so the 60 pounds of tools in the bed may be a bit much (but as I said earlier, I have room to lighten the load with out lightening my capabilities).

I don't personally like hitting the trail hoping a bare minimum tool set can fix a problem - but many folks may not be like me and also servicing their fiance's or mothers car at a moments notice in any given parking lot - so the 60 pounds of tools in the bed may be a bit much (but as I said earlier, I have room to lighten the load with out lightening my capabilities).

Normally I am the over prepared guy. My XJ was nicknamed the "Tool Shed" as it was well equipped for the era. ('98-'04)

We all have different needs, I don't suppose any of them are inherently wrong

They don’t like it……. Until they do. I’ve helped and used on board tools a number of times if I see someone struggling in a parking lot dealing with car issues. I’ve been there so know that frustration. Ask if they want a hand. If they go full potato and say no then it’s “Have a nice day!”.

I had to do an alternator in the Oreilly parking lot in our van several months ago.

One of the counter girls came outside to bring us our battery back (they charged it while I was working) and was amazed at all the tools I had spread out by the van. She's like I've never seen such a spread trying to fix something in a parking lot.

I said I wish I could tell you I drove home and got all this - but it just lives in the truck

I change engine oil, transmission fluid, transfer case fluid, differential fluid, air filters, and fuel filters; otherwise, I don't have the skillset or experience to do many serious trail repairs. If I were to experience a mechanical breakdown, then I'm calling someone. Fortunately, in all my years in the backcountry, I haven't had any mechanical failures. I've had a few flat tires, but those were fairly easy compared to breaking suspension parts.

and had both kinds of fasteners.
