I’m considering trading in my manual dualtop rubicon for an automatic rubicon. Should I keep the hardtop and order a Softtop, or keep Softtop. If I order a Softtop is anything needed besides wiring harness for the hardtop?

I plan on keeping one top and ordering the other. The soft top would be cheaper, but what parts would I have to order to keep hardtop defrost.

Definitely keep the hard top, source a soft later.

The 8spd is an absolute dream.

Does anyone have Ko2 37’s with automatic. It’s a lighter tire 65lbs, measures 35.5. Will it be hunting for gears?

It’ll be fine if you program it for the tire size, if not the shift points will not be ideal at all.

Keep the soft top, and order/purchase your new one with the hard top. This way you'll have the defroster wiring and programming already in place. I'm not certain it's easy to add those to a JT that lacks them.

Keep the hardtop, forget about the soft top. As far as hunting for gears, I have 37 12.5 17 Goodyear Kevlar MTRS on my Max Tow with 4.10 gears so basically setup pretty similar to a Rubicon, has the wide track axles as well. Mine does great and are a little heavier than the KO2s and about 3/4's of a inch taller as well.
Here is a video for reference.

I average around 17.2 mpgs running these tires, never under 17 though.

Keep the hard top, I see soft tops come up for decent prices on Facebook quite often.

“Keep the ….top” is misleading in some of these posts? Order your new one with a hard top thus trade your existing hard top is my opinion. You get the wiring.
