Brad is doing alright financially, but like most automotive related Youtubers, those vehicles are tax deductible expenses absorbing a good chunk of the outlay cost.
Justin B. McBride let out publicly how some influencer campaigns basically work. Some of these vehicles are glorified loaners or promotional leases (for lack of a better term). Not everyone buys their own rig (first rule of business - use OPM)

Manufacturers will literally give someone a vehicle if the promotional is worth it. I know years ago a 3rd-place Japanese mfg dropped a few vehicles to a small software company in Redmond, WA for the start of technology integration in our vehicles that we can't live without today. Well, we could, we just don't want to.

I'm trying to remember the #s off-hand, but it's something like $3-5 per 1,000 views on average. Some make almost $30 per 1,000 views.

Roughly $2500-$7500 per video, based on published numbers a couple years ago.

Then you can add in the money/products from in-video product placement. I'm pretty sure Brad didn't own one of the Patriot trailers, since it always had Texas tags and not CA.

There are lots of tax benefits from a u tube Chanel . Not for me, I'll watch them in my easy chair and wheel when I want. Brad is a good guy, if he is doing well on u tube that's great. I enjoy most of the people overlanding. If they are making money, great.

At least he is consistent though. And for being a retired military no doubt he has more than enough bodily problems. Dont forget his wife worked some good jobs too. I like his content better than most. I remember when Casey 250 and Sean first started too. Sean kept it straight where Casey took a left turn somewhere and turned into nothing but shorts and reviews and doing only paid content - thats a huge turnoff to me, and makes him come across pompous. out of all of them that guy looks to be way more loaded. Have you seen his house or corvette? A shame he only does paid memberships now - really turned me off on even wanting to watch anything of his anymore.
Agreed, I can’t stand casey 250s content. I still like Shaun’s channel, he is still going out and doing cool things and his editing and production is top notch, but the v8 swap and such is annoying. He at least doesn’t prance around and flaunt it like casey. I enjoy dirt life style, trail recons, and jk gear and gadgets the most. Ozark overland adventure is alright as well as way-ughhh-life. I still don’t understand why talking about him is banned. Their content has really slacked off though. Let’s build everything up with all the money we have that no one will ever do. Then turn around and get a 392 and put a rancho lift on it with like 3500+ dollar shocks. Weird lol. They use to do the coolest wheeling trips, but just put out repeat vids to get free crap prob. And I like how some of these content creators have never installed any of their own stuff. A lot of them just go to shops. I know I’m being critical, and a tad jealous they get to wheel and camp for a living.

Think I saw something the other day he went all the way from Utah to Canada for epic to install his snorkel…….?‍♂ I wish some of them would attempt to install their own crap.

I haven't watched Ozark in a while. They had good content to start. But he said in the very beginning he was NOT going to turn into one of those guys who is a paid sponsor and does product reviews and does nothing but talk. But the past year, thats a lot of what his content turned into. I didnt like that - in fact product reviews, IMO, are lame anyway. I rather would have a lot of detailed pictures, and read the specifications from the manufacturer and determine if it is right that way. And the last several videos I did watch was 90% talking to a camera, and hardly any trail vid's. To his defense maybe they realized quitting jobs and full time camping is not sustainable who knows... But this is where I like Brad a lot. Because maybe his life plans have changed, but his methodology of his videos has not. He has remained mostly consistent with his style of video and content. So has dirt lifestyle, revere overland, ventrue2roam, and coddiewomple overland.

But at the end of the day all of these guys do allow us to see different products in use and in function to maybe help people decide what will and won't work for their own needs.

Wait who went to Epic for the snorkel? Thats excessive... Epic was going to potentially come to my house on their way through MT this past summer and possibly do a lift on site - but they never pulled through probably due to scheduling. I ended up wanting to work with a local high quality 4x4 shop in town anyway to support local businesses. Like you I also like to see people do what they can no their own - especially if the catalogue it on a forum like this, so that others can join in on the fun via discussions, and see the details of how something goes together and the struggles encountered on the way. Its much more fun than seeing a following video of a suddenly lifted truck with no details about it.

I used to like McBride’s channel, now I feel like it’s a 15-30 minute commercial on all the stuff he gets for free. Not hating on it, but not the content I enjoy watching. Foresty Forest for example, wheels and lives in a 4 wheel drive van, not a 80k off-road trailer. He gets out and hikes and explores the land in Canada and the US at times. If you haven’t checked him out yet, you should. While he’s not in a Jeep, he puts out great content.

Lately........I've been watching a lot of the Aussie video's. Especially when 4WD 24/7 came to the US to do Moab and some trails in Co.

I like to watch u tube as an escape from network TV. They all have their faults but that's ok. The one that I really like is Lifestyle Overland. No Gladiator there. But the highest of values and great content. I have also met him and the family at Overland Expo and they are genuine great people. I wish them nothing but great times and financial success in the future.
Really, I wouldn't be surprised if Brad was given the Gladiator free. I hope he was. Maybe he will keep the Gladiator alive a while longer and boost sales.

Yeah ozark is either a hit or miss, but at least he is up front when a company pays him to review a product. And it was McBride for the snorkel.

I did buy the zonli heated blanket I got on sale for a good price that he was advertising. (Not through his link) haha. I must say my wife and I really like it. But overall not a big fan of his content. Not to much wheeling on his part. I just sub’d to foresty forest to check out

I like his Jeep related content but seriously get sick of all the want to be Gourmet cooking they do out on the trail I have absolutely no interest in it
Makes me want to buy a skottle though haha. I have a Weber q that I normally take. I just need something else other than grilling.

I couldn't stand the "it's too windy here" almost everywhere he camps and the idiocy of flying a drone behind a vehicle on a dirt road at speed and being surprised it gets taken out by a rock.

I just can't believe that he got an influencer deal with Bronco with only 70k followers.

I do like a lot of Brad's content, and I don't mind his coffee talk series either. TSTN is ok, hit & miss. Ozark is ok. I've watched a few of Revere. Lite Brite is meh. I wouldn't be surprised if most of us look at XOverland as the benchmark, but the later stuff is lacking a little, imo.
