Hey all, I'm experiencing something weird with my gladiator diesel. It seems that the truck will shift out of 1st gear into 2nd and then it will hold 2nd gear while I'm making a turn. It literally won't shift until I'm through the turn and the wheel is straight. Ive tried to drive faster but all that does is.out.me into a situation where the rpms are higher. Has anyone experienced this and what did you do to fix it. Cause this doesn't seem normal, then again maybe it is.

Thanks.

Mine only does that when not fully warmed up.

I can’t say I’ve ever paid attention to what gear it’s in while making a turn….
As long as its downshifts enough to have the acceleration after the turn.

Unlike my previously owned GMC Canyon…. It’d be in 4th gear before the turn and still be in 4th gear after the turn… chuggle chuggle chuggle….

Sounds like your *turn* is pretty close after making a stop? Have you tried going a longer distance and getting it up to 4th gear and then slowing down to make a turn?

From what I’ve learned…these trucks (Pentastar) are happier at higher rpm’s.

Wondering if it is a low fluid issue and the pan pickup is starving in a turn?

Sorry for not giving more information.

Yes it's a 2023 gladiator 3.0 diesel with the 8hp75 transmission.

The truck is stock with just 10k miles on it. But it did sit on the dealership lot for 6months before I bought it.

It does shift rough when it's cold which is why I let it warm up a little, 90degrees is when I drive off. Which then I take it easy until it's warmed up abit more.

Might be time for a service appointment.

Thanks for the responses

It may be a simple quick learn flash needed 🤔. I would take it in . It will be documented that it was in even if they say it is okay. These transmissions can sometimes shift straight in sorta abruptly.
