I did the first drop at 8k and second just past 15k. Second time wasn't really needed likely but wanted to be sure I had all break in out. ZF recommends 8 years or 50k. No flushes just pan and filter change.

Just make sure you are 86F to 122F to check level.

Though you, me and some others know about this BS, what isn’t BS is FCA will deny your tranny warranty if you ever have to go in for tranny service. Ask me how I know. It was a tragic start for my first time Jeep ownership. Something was wrong, I tried to fix it myself by a simple oil change and thats all it took to have the book thrown at me. But with that said, I wish you all the best of luck with your JT and service experience

Most certainly. That's why I stuck with the oem fluid. It's also dyed like a greenish color so anything else they'd know non oem was used.

Oh I'm sure regardless they would look for anything to get out of it. Had an 08 JKU with lifetime warranty. During second five year check up was told I missed the cut off for time. Crazy thing is they had me waiting almost 2 hours to tell me that. They were looking for any excuse because I'd already gotten a front driveshaft and motor two years prior.

Looks good. I have done this twice also so far. Not that hard of a job once you figure out the temp and fill procedure. Once out of warranty, will be going to Valvoline MaxLife ATF for fluid to save some coin.

Max life atf huh… 😬 this is the same transmission that’s in Audi sq5’s, Porsche Macan’s, x5’s.

Have a few friends with built sq5’s putting down 700+ and Only use zf fluid…. The few bucks in savings isn’t worth the $4500 replacement IMO… 🤷‍♂️

$20 a quart every 40k doesn’t seem that bad to me. Though the diesels have a genuine zf vs the clone…. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah I'll hit 30k soon..........so I'm due.

Every vehicle I've owned with a AT I do fluid and filter every 30k. Never have had a AT failure even numerous GM 4L60/e's.

I am not going to get into a tit for tat argument over it but If anybody wants to search it out, there is plenty of people on the RAM, Wrangler and even some BMW forums that have use it regularly without issue on ZF transmissions including Hotshot drivers on the RAM side racking up plenty of miles with no issue.

I have used MaxLife ATF on my 2017 RAM 1500 and 2018 Wrangler JL with ZF 8 Speeds without issue. USE OEM while in warranty, outside warranty, MaxLife ATF is a suitable option.

On eBay or Amazon you can usually get it around 14 to 15 a quart. Just have to dig a minute.
