2024 6,500 miles, they changed the drivers side tie rod and didn't do an alignment, left the dealership and the front tires are squealing when turning.

If it drives and sounds worse after they wrenched on it, take it back. You’d think if they test drove it after, they would have heard it.

Now that I’ve thought about this a few minutes… I had this same situation happen to me on my previous truck (17 Tacoma Sport), it went in for something, probably brake job, and the wheels came off and were put back on and I too had this squealing howl from one of the wheels and when they pulled it off, a rock was wedged in between the dust shield and rotor. It carved a nice grove in the rotor.

Explain they didn’t do alignment. What did you ā€œfeelā€ when driving home, we know it squeals but the tire shouldn’t be making contact with anything unless it’s a rock that got kicked up like I said above. Does the service work order say ā€œno alignment doneā€ ? That’s odd they would forget that part.

Doesn't say anything about alignment , it says tie rod replaced, test driven and good, I noticed it seems to dart and tire squealing on curves.

My guess is more than normal toe adjustment.

Maybe alignment isn't covered under warranty and they were trying to save me the cost.

Perhaps tires are over inflated so darting sounds like a need to air down. If it was good before and PSI was custom for proper handling for you, the tech would have air’d them up.

Squealing on corners is added tire angle (rim flex) pressure which a small rock in a dust shield would feel. I’m thinking it’s not going to be anything major but does need attention

Update, I decided to take it to my alignment shop and not back to the dealer, because I didn't have confidence they would correct it as the work sheet said changed tie rod, test driven and good, my alignment guy documented it and the dealership sent me on my way with 1 inch 11/16 of toe out total.

Thats a lot of toe out. You want negative toe. You can go it yourself at home. Its pretty simple to do.

My alignment guy corrected it ,it now has the manufacturer recommended alignment, only driving it 100 miles did a number on the front tires though.

TBH, if it left the factory aligned, and no one touched the tie-rod from that point to when it was replaced, then an alignment wouldn’t be needed provided that the new tie-rod was reinstalled in the same configuration (I.e. count the threads).

Sounds like the mechanic didn’t do that.

Exactly, he could have fine tuned the tie rod until the steering wheel was straight, instead he guessed on the tire rod and I could tell he was into the steering wheel adjusting nut to re-enter, unbelievable 😳 it wasn't fun to drive, downright scary.
