So today me and my Uncle Rick changed the water pump , thermostat house and water temp sensor and the serpentine accessory drive belt. We did take lunch at noon but it took alot longer than I expected . We started at 1030 and got it all back together about 400 with an hour for lunch 5hr. 30 min. The cleaning of the block and the belt install were super tough. Everything had to be torqued . Removing the hoses was a Beast !!! Then hose for the thermostate housing was the hardest . But the fluid fill was not to bad
Cheat Code: see a guy on You-Tube due to the fact that that the thermostat housing dies not have a bleeder screw on the Gladiator He suggested removing the water temp sensor and filling till it came out the temp sensor hole . Then replace temp sensor and fill reservoir to proper point and fill as it draws down .
I used 50/50 pre diluted 90032 compliant Zerex brand orange/ red antifreeze .

Some pics for ypur viewing pleasure 😂

Oh P.S the bearing went out of the water pump . The Jeep had 117870 miles when the water pump gave out and started weeping . IF you think you may have a water pump going bad you better call and order early I called Everywhere ..found just one had it overnighted..because today I had to be fixed as I work Monday morning. The Pump is not readily available. I got super Lucky !!

Does not look like too bad of a job. Was the temp sensor on the thermostat housing?

My gladiator has had at least 3 water pumps in 60,000km...so youre doing well to get the equivalent of almost 200,000km out of one.

Is there a ‘maintenance schedule’ to replace all that??

I see the Gladiators have a timing chain. With most other trucks I’ve owned (with timing belts), you’d change the water pump at the same time you changed the timing belt. I remember doing a water pump change on a 96 Tacoma @ 80k miles (there was a very small leak/drip). The timing belts were recommended to be changed at 60K.
***we bought the tacoma w/ 60k and had the dealership change the belt but they wouldn’t do the water pump.

My 2020 leaked at 28K.
It was still under warranty put I decided to do it myself rather than let my dealer put there hands on it.

No just sparkplug at 160000miles. Not while I was in there I replaced the serpentine belt. Idler pulleys still felt smooth not rough turning so never replaced . The real beast was the belt tensioner. Both my Uncles were pulling and holding the tensioner back while I struggled to get the belt up on the alternator pulley. It is enormously hard to hold. If your serpentine belt breaks on the road somewhere your getting towed. It was that hard no way that I seen that it locked back and 2 grown men had to hold it over with a half inch rachet .. that's ridiculous..

About 3 hours. I was in know hurry.
It took me 1.5 to tear it apart and about 2.5 to put it back together and the block cleaning was slow (tried to remove all traces of old rubber gasket . That probably was 40 min. And I also did the thermostat housing and that big house was a bear to get off.

Yea…I remember doing the Tacoma….. one of the tensioners was hydraulic and was a pain in the ass. After messing with it for too long & realizing it had no movement at all….. the damn thing was locked up/frozen. Luckily…the one in the Tacoma was an off-the-shelf you could get at the local auto store (and pretty cheap).

Just took my 2025 JT Mojave X with only 2,000 miles to the dealer. They said the water pump is bad and needs to be replaced. Was making a loud high pitched noise coming from the engine.

Nothing is easy anymore. I had to replace the coolant thermostat housing and temp sensor on my Colorado and you’re supposed to take the intake off to do it. I avoided it with stubbornness a swivel sockets, but it took me several hours. I could probably cut that in half if I had to do it again.

Since you and I fan boy on the LS motors...

....that's an engine you can do a hell of a quick water pump on 😂

Especially my SS Camaro with electric fans and electric power steering. Just about nothing is in the way.
