What are people doing with the big blank dash area in front of the passenger?

The airbag is held in a pocket directly behind that panel.

Probably not a good idea to attach anything to it.

Haven't seen pictures of one deployed but the back side of the panel looks like it is scored to open in the middle, you can see the flaps in the blue box it mounts in. And the panel is screwed in on the top and bottom.
