i have been looking at the CURT 51170 Spectrum ... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CZTXL8...colid=UA7QZKL2CZJU&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it ... with the CURT 51527 Quick Plug Electric Trailer Brake Controller Wiring Harness https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086HLWYT...colid=UA7QZKL2CZJU&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

or the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite V2 Electric Brake Controller
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077JJPMS...colid=UA7QZKL2CZJU&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

also looked on eTrailer.com for the same stuff .... not sure what will work best with the limited space in the JT ... i understand the limited tow capacity (6000#s for my Gladiator) ...

do NOT want to use the factory brake controller, i need the 12V cig plug

any thoughts would be helpful

If you search, there are several threads on this topic. I have the Curt 51458 harness with black and blue swapped in the connector going to the Jeep harness. Curt 51110 controller. It is mounted under the steering column where I can use the manual button.

I went with the Curt Spectrum. I wasn't willing to give up the 12v outlet, and I didn't want to drill any holes in the dash to mount it.

thanxs all for your responses ... i did read several other threads on the brake controllers, but they were older threads and i did not want to revive an old thread .. got yelled at on another forum when responding to a one year old thread .... now, it is not the curt echo that scares me it is my Samson S9+, it updates several times a week and changes anything it wants to, truely this phone has a mind of its' own ... i used Prodigy P2s before but there is little room for those .. i am leaning toward the Curt Spectrum but wanted to see what yu all thought

fair concern with the echo. Food for thought..once you set it up it auto remembers your last setting. So even if your phone takes a dump the echo can and will continue to work. I recently tested this by just pulling it out of my camper (i leave it in the forward storage box) plugging it in and driving without turning on the companion app with my phone. Worked flawlessly.

Really the app is so you can change settings if you want and have the oh shat button if you need it.
They also sell a separate oh shat button if you don’t want to keep the phone on all the time during a trip

Curt Echo all the way... transferable from vehicle to vehicle and multiple profile settings for different trailers.

I moved the 12volt outlet. No need to get rid of it.

Tekonsha Primus IQ. Works great. Plug and pray...oops, play ;) and mounted it on the facia above the gas pedal. Don't really know it's there at all but can still reach the slide switch for the trailer only brakes if needed.

the "oh shit" button is my main concern, have had to use it on icy roads one time but it did save a really bad situation

Almost got a Tekonsha hard-wired to my Gladiator despite my ill feeling of someone drilling into the pristine dash of my brand new Jeep Truck. Fortunately I was given the option of the Curt Echo. No need for hard-wire installation, no drilling, and considerably cheaper. I went the blue tooth route and honestly it worked great. Not to mention the fact I can swap between vehicles and it can be removed when not in use. Very user friendly.
One recommendation, since it uses a cell phone app for the manual brake control and adjustments, I would get a cell phone mount that makes your phone easily viewable and accessible. Like those you stick your windshield or one of these I got from Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/CheroCar-Cellphone-Multi-Mount-2018-2020-Accessories/dp/B07ZV47HL9/ref=sr_1_5?crid=Z9FLJ3UDKQQI&dchild=1&keywords=cell+phone+holder+jeep+gladiator&qid=1629480840&sprefix=Cell+phone+holder+jeep+,aps,240&sr=8-5
Good luck with your choice!
