Bill, looks like the rest of the Jeeps are trying to catch up to the old guy in the stock Jeep, probably muttering something about
“We underestimated that old guy and his Jeep”
Glad ya got to play ….Jack

Some more shots from this weekend. There were three levels - the black diamond marked trails you had better have some real clearance - long wheelbases need not try (riding with another guy, saw someone get serious stuck in one area - not enough clearance. Another buried it in the mud.)

I did the green and blue marked trails.
Green were supposedly the easier trails - yeah, ok, if you say so........ but they were still pretty danged rough, rutted BADLY, enough to challenge the suspension on a Mojave.
I also rode along with a friend in his Bronco Sport and his left front wheel dropped into a deep, sharp (and I mean deep) hole hidden by tall grass and his right rear tire left the ground. Oops - could feel the rear end lock and it slowly backed itself out of the hole and he moved over a few inches, rough as hell, but made it across. You can imagine with the sharp hills and all, and the rain we've had this year - there were some serious ruts and washouts. So the green were still very rough, just not as steep a climb as was on the blue trails. The blue had some tight switchbacks at the tops of the climbs - so you wanted to pay attention. Trail cam= handy.

My wife asked me how the event was - it was great, everyone very friendly and helpful and lots to do, hundreds of rigs to look at (almost 400 in the final tally were registered).
She asked if I'd go next year - yeah, sure. But......... next time, don't put the snow plow brackets on before the event, figure out a way to disconnect the front sway bar - and for SURE - get a danged tailgate seal on this thing! Man, the whole inside of the cab and the rear of the truck were covered it thick dust.

Some of Iowa's "flat ground" used for the course -

Go in on the right, the trail drops out of sight, then you come up that grade (29 degrees? one guy thought - his pitch and roll gauges were not able to keep up!) by the stand on the left in the pic -

Got out this weekend for an extended camping trip before the snow starts falling. First night was near Leadville then headed south on Saturday and did Tincup. Got done early enough got a little closer to home. Both campgrounds closed today so absolutely dead at each. Colors are peaking in Crested Butte which made for some interesting traffic situations on the way back but still made good time.

Today I decided to treat the Jeep app "trip tracking" as a challenge. How many "hard turning" flags can I get on one trip to work!
