I'll need to get a good stone and try that out.
It was a gift I think, but we’ve had it for 15 years plus. It’s round and not huge, but since the pizzas go so quickly, it hasn’t been a problem. I initially thought I’d wait a bigger one, but it hasn’t worked well because everyone gets to do their own, topped the way they want.

Edit: if it weren’t so cold, it might be a good dinner tonight. Maybe we can make some dough today and do it on a warmer day.

That’s something I’ve always wanted to try. I don’t know that my grill gets down low enough though. With one burner on low maybe. I need to do some reading. But any advice would be awesome.
We actually started with a couple different electric smokers… and they worked OK, but just didn’t last long. About 15 years ago…. We were a bit intimidated by the cost of the Big Green Egg - but we bit the bullet and bought the XL. It’s been one of the best things we’ve purchased. This is his ‘toy’ and he’s done so much research and reading over the years. There’s a lot of forums & FB groups on the BGE’s. There’s a following….

I’m certainly not promoting the BGE…. As there are similar ceramic type smokers out there. But, i will say…the BGE’s have a Lifetime warranty. After about 10 years, our base developed a crack and they replaced it for free. The old cracked one?? I’m growing veggies in it. 😉

Obviously….it’s a different style of cooking. The difference between using ‘gas’ (on a grill) versus using charcoal & flames. It’s a learning curve…..
There are gadgets & Apps to help you cook. The one app called Flame Boss.
You set the desired temp (in the app) and the app controls a ‘fan’ on the smoker that delivers the proper amount of ‘air’ to keep the smoker at a constant temp. Set it and forget it….no more fussing and guessing. Put the meat in the night before, go to bed….wake up… done. 😉

Sorry..that was way too long!!

Not at all long. I have a FireBoard controller that does I think 6 temperature probes, and would also control a fan. Even with my gas Weber, I use it almost every time.

Oh yes… same with Flameboss - has temp probes too. Gotta have food temp probes…. . Makes things soo much easier!

See, you’re already there. 😉 Poke around on the internet. I’m sure there are folks who’ve done Briskets on a Weber or other. Happy Cooking!!

A friend i know I think has a big green egg or something similar, and he loves it.

I am lazy and prefer my easy bake oven (pellet grille). I never feel like messing with charcoal and stuff. Kudos to those with the patience.

This was the kid’s pizza. They made the crust and did the toppings themselves. But it was delicious.

Right there with you. Love my Pit Boss pellet smoker. So easy it feels like cheating.

My buddy had one of these donated to his fire house during covid from the local Walmart. The thing has bluetooth so you can adjust/check on it remotely which they actually used a lot because they sometimes got called away while food was cooking. They could slow it down while they were out on a call so it wouldn't overcook before they could get back to the firehouse.

I've tried using my gas grill to smoke, doesn't work very good. I bought a metal tube off Amazon to load wood pellets in and put the grill on low and while it technically worked, it didn't provide half the flavor you get from a real smoker.

Coworker of mine used a wood burner for years. That's how he would do his briskets, ribs, etc. Mind you he's not the kind of fella that make smoking brisket his personality, he's just a dude that cooks meat a lot y'know.

I told him about my pellet grille and he scoffed.

But as time went on he'd ask more about it.

I'm like yea man I just hit the on button, turn it to the temp I want and walk away. I come back later to clean it and slap the meat on it and away we go.

Finally his birthday came and his ole lady bought him a nice new Pit Boss.

He LOVES it. He is so happy he is no longer slaving away lighting fires, staying up all night feeding a stick burner for a long smoke, etc.

Does it deliver quite the same taste as a regular wood and coal fire? No.

But for folks like me and him that work full time jobs and have plenty of other things to tend to in life, I'll take my easy bake oven every time. Turn the dial and it baby sits itself.

I have a very small one. It's the Pit Boss 440 / Lexington or something. You can get two racks of ribs, or 8 leg quarters on it. I got it discounted off of the Black Friday price back in 2019 or so. So, cheap cheap. I love it.

Yup, I'm ith you. My time is worth more to me than eeking out that 5-10% extra flavor you get with regular wood or coal.

I know. Blurring the lines of cooking.

Whatever.

When you want to be cultured in a hurry. Tasty Bite, Mahatma, chicken nuggets, and a Coors Banquet. Dinner in 10 minutes 😂

Quite good, I promise...

Just here to post bachelor food. I swear we cook real meals 😂 The other evening was baked salmon, rice, and vegetables.

Smoked sausage on whole grain, bottom dollar chili sauce, dijon.
