Get a NOCO jumper pack. Far more useful than jumper cables. Small, light weight. They have built in lights and it doubles as a power bank for other electronic devices. I have one in all 3 of my Jeeps.

Love the tire repair kit idea. Can I ask what one you have and if you have had to use it?
I carry the Expedition Kit from Glue Tread. I personally haven't had to use mine yet. There a videos of people using this kit and doing the Rubicon on it.

Hi all and apologies if this thread seems similar to previous ones asked. I tried a search for previous threads but didn’t really find anything along the lines of what I wanted to ask.

I’m slowly kitting out my new JT. Not being independently wealthy it’s a protracted process and I need to prioritize what I spend on. So I figured I’d crowd source some ideas and steal the ones I like. 😁

What gear do you consider essential for your daily driving?

Also when you head out on a road trip, say camping or some light off roading what do you consider essential to have?

I’m thinking in the general sense and not necessarily specific activities like rock crawling or mud bogging for example.

So for like daily driving I’m thinking along the lines of a first aid kit, road flares, tow rope, jumper cables, fire extinguisher, etc.

Just curious what other folks consider ‘essential’ though and don’t like being on the road without. Thanks in advance!
For DD, if you don’t have any other tools (and even if you do) toss a leatherman in the glovebox.

Some other oddities - a piece of 2" PVC (about 3" long) and a couple hose clamps. Bottle Jack. toss an old pair of boots under the back seat.

Ummm, what’s the PVC for? 🤔

Much like others have said, plus a spare spare when on a long trip and/or out in the boonies. I also take a spare spare for my little camper trailer. One gets a little nervous once the spare tire is used. I once had to travel a couple hours to find a matching tire for my JT. Once used both trailer spares. I have found good used tires for this purpose at bigger tire stores in most cities. For Jeeps, lots of lightly used take-offs on line.

NOCO Boost is great. Fits in the pocket behind the rear passenger-side seat. I also have one of those window buster/seatbelt cutter combo tools. I'd rather never use it than ever need it.

I'm particularly fond of first gear, it's pretty essential when rockcrawling. But I probably spend the most time in 8th gear.
I was also thinking that any gear my Jeep is driving in is perfectly acceptable 👌

Our trucks are too new for this to be a problem for a while, but if you blow a radiator hose you can piece it back together with that. Cut the hose at the hole/tear, insert pvc, tighten clamps, drive home and fix it right.
Ooo, ok that all makes sense now. Thank you.

I always keep a full size round point shovel with a shortened handle, Recovery strap, ratchet straps, bungees, leather gloves, basic tool kit, jumper cables, a blanket, toilet paper, trash bags, rags, flashlight, lighter and fluids for both people and the jeep along with some essential snack food in the Jeep.
I consider a winch and the basic that go with it D rings, chains etc nearly essential if i didn't have a winch i would have a come along with some chain onboard since getting out slow is better than walking out.
