This is what I have been considering since it will be nice to have in the garage and on the trail. The only thing I have not figured out is how to store in the vehicle while off road. Anyone have suggestions?
You can start here:
https://www.fordraptorforum.com/threads/best-high-lift-floor-jack.68276/page-8

And you'll find this in the above thread (I'm not recommending it just mentioning it)...

[QUOTE="PyrPatriot, Tough to do if you don't have a garage. What about for apartments

A floor jack would be a probably your best bet then. You should have a factory that's about same as a bottle jack.

Folks, my wife and I are getting ready to take off with the motorhome pulling the Gladiator Rubicon and I’m trying to get accessories we really should have off road. Have a compressor installed, straps, recovery ropes, shackles, snatch blocks, etc, and now looking for a jack kit of some sort. Gladiator has 3 1/2ā€ lift (although probably closer to 4) and 37ā€ Patagonia’s on it. We won’t be doing anything extreme, or at least we never have but I don’t want to get stuck out in lord knows where without appropriate equipment. I’m considering the Safe Jack’s Sargent or General Kit. A little pricey but compact and looks versatile. Space is a little concern as we fill up the back with stuff we think we need for RVing for 3 months. Any thoughts, suggestions, or guidance?

Appreciate any input,

Jim

Safe Jack is ok... I'm pretty disappointed with the fit of the cradles and everything but they use Omega jacks and those are quality.

Thanks for the response. In the Safe Jack video I viewed, after adding a number of extensions, it looks like there was some looseness which could cause some off balance when using at the longer extension lengths. Is this what you’re referring to? In my case, it wouldn’t be for normal use, just as an emergency sort of thing when away from ā€œcivilizationā€. Think it’s appropriate for that type of expected use? Or should I look at something like the Pro Eagle (which I suppose I’d use around home if I had it) - expensive though, especially if you include a bed mount.

The problem IMO is that there's nothing to stabilize the sleeve on the accessories. I think the ideal way to build them would be that they're the same diameter as the piston so that it can stabilize it against the top of the piston. As it is, you unscrew the top of the jack to extend it and the accessories slip over that. That leaves a lot of wiggle to the accessory that I'm not 100% sure I'd trust this system on unstable ground. So much so that I keep jackstands in my truck just in case.

If you do the jack, I'd get a base plate to stabilize the jack because like any bottle jack, it is prone to tipping.

I have floor jacks, bottle jacks, and jack stands, there is no perfect do-al- jack, like any tool each has a specific usage depending on location and application.

I'v seen these on Amazon they look handy and considered purchasing a couple but maybe the quality is suspect.

I'll second this one. I carry a similar one that I bought at Tractor Supply. I had to use it on a trail outside of Grand Junction, CO when I bent the inside lip of the driver rear wheel and let all of the air out. It is stable, extendable and locks like a jackstand. While it has a bit of a larger footprint when it comes to storage, it certainly was worth it out on the trail.

I haven't figured out how much lift I need with 37's and 3.5" suspension lift.

I looked at the plastic jack blocks but at $70.00 I'm not doing that. I'd rather carry wood or make my own out of wood.

I am looking at taller scissors jacks online but again, I need to figure out how much lift I need

I like this concept a lot but not sure it's a great option for off roading mostly because of its size and weight (and carrying it in the JEEP)

I also had a hard time deciding. I have 5 floor jacks at my house, lol... I decided to go with the Safejack "General" because of the extra base, extensions, and ease of storage. I just strapped it to my molle panels with a ratchet strap (which may also be useful to keep the suspension compressed). After looking at the "General" kit, I am pretty convinced that it can handle any trouble 37" tires get you into... I also carry a set of Maxtrax on the front of my bed, so, I can also use both of those as a base under the base if needed in sand. Here is a pic.

ā€˜I have this one as well. I even use it with my F-350 with my Hallmark camper on it.

After the other input then seeing your setup, I’ve sorta come full circle (Safe Jack to jack stand/bottle combo to Pro Eagle). Now, again thinking Safe Jack General. Not that I think it’s the best jack, but from the space stand point. I really like your set up and use of Molle panels. Where did you get them? Did you have to drill or were they bolt on, etc? We have hard bed cover and store tow and braking system stuff in the bed, plus a few other items when traveling, so space is a premium. Maxtrax also something I’d not thought about. Any more pics and info you’d be willing to share would be greatly appreciated.
