I used Aux 3 with the Warn interrupt and I’m happy with the install. To avoid the long angle iron getting near the ground lugs, I used a single bolt installation with a thick rubber washer to prevent scratches and rotation. After some significant bumps, it hasn’t budged.

Man, torn between doing this and not. I see plenty of documentation suggesting getting the winch directly to the battery, yet I've always fused long running cables in the past, including the power cable to ran to the front fender.

I have the factory aux so prime candidate for it too... Just not sure if getting a cheap starter solenoid would be any safer than direct cables to the winch.

Btw, winch is getting here Thursday... Got a descent deal on a 10k rugged ridge trekker with synthetic line... Gonna be mounted on an arcus bumper that's still boxed up in the garage.

The solenoid from Warn isn’t the same as a starter solenoid, as it’s rated for continuous use, where starters are rated for short bursts. I love the aux switch setup, and configured it to only work with ignition to avoid someone killing the battery. I feel much safer knowing that in a bumper impacting accident, there isn’t power to that positive terminal.

Fits perfectly next to the battery. Connected to 15w aux cable, should be plenty.

In the past (2019), I had two Warn power interrupt solenoids malfunction in another application. I have not heard of any other failures of the Warn solenoid, so this may be a very isolated problem. However, given that history, I decided to avoid the Warn power interrupt solenoid this time around. For my JTR, the winch is connected to a 500 amp continuous duty solenoid which in turn is controlled by one of the aux switches. The second solenoid is for a DC to DC charging unit on my trailer. The bracket the solenoids bolt to is fabricated from a flat piece of aluminum and bolts to the Jeep using two of the existing ground bolts. There is not a lot of room available, but everything fit.?

Please enlighten the ignorant: I like the red rubber things covering your cable ends on the solenoid side. I assume I can find them on Amazon, but what are they called?

Side question - is that the factory Cold Air Intake on the right side of the photo?

Here you go. And yes, that is the factory air intake.

Thank you much!
My winch setup will end up looking nearly identical to yours then. My Hydro Blue JTR arrives on the 29th and has the CAI. (Making sure I have all the parts and pieces I need for when it arrives.)

Enjoy the Jeep! I believe you’ll have to install the CAI. At least that is what the situation was when I ordered my JT in December 2020. I chose not to order the CAI because of that reason.

Huh interesting. Well yeah I’ll opt not to pay for that if it’s a DIY. It was the one option I was most on the fence about anyhow.

Dealer asked if I was interested when I ordered - I hesitated, getting ready to say no, and he interrupted and said "not likely with your experience. You know they don't do that much". I had to laugh as he went down the list of options and packages and knew almost before he asked what the answer would be.

Good for sound, little else.

Yeah I was under a misunderstanding when I included it with my order. I wouldn’t mind having it at this point, but I don’t “need” it.

Just remote mount the control box next to the battery. You have to wire the battery to the winch anyway, so just spent a little extra time with some extra wire. No electricity going to the winch unless your using it. Problem solved.
