Buy a full soft top. Luckily I don't have to park or travel to places where it's apt to get cut/slashed while unattended. The modular features of a full softop is unmatched.
That's what we did after purchasing a couple other tops. The soft top is in Safari mode and easy to install the rear sections.

If I had the black roof I would worry a lot less than having the painted roof.
So far I have just kept it in the house and taken off the panels at home and left them at home. Putting them back on when I get back home.

I too would love a sunrider top. The wife might convince me to get a full soft top eventually.
If you find yourself in or near Pennsylvania, we can solve that for you. I've been looking for a stinggray top to replace my black one!

Another reason I installed the DB cover. Bag stays in the bed. Panels are secure and also not taken up room in the back seat when they’re off (can’t leave them in bed if you stop in many places in Cali even at a light).

Thank you for all your input. I have been thinking about the Sunrider top but now curious about the full soft top. Can anyone share pictures of the soft top when it is down? Thanks!

PS.....I have tonneau cover and made latches for it so they have to cut into the cover to even know they were back there. Can't just lift rear of cover with those latches.

When I first got the truck, I would just use a carabiner to clip the handles to one of bed loops. I would do this with the bag empty or full. Did that for one summer, then bought a sunrider.

Sunrider is fine but an expense for where the weather is seldom right for open top, and that includes our nearly always very windy days. I'd have to get a hell of a deal on one to justify it

Don't worry about that. You can't see the top from the driver's seat!

With respect to where to keep the Freedom Panels storage bag
I have a Crossover Truck Bed Toolbox from Tractor Supply.
Dog seat covers and freedom panel covers can go in there
along with essential recovery gear and stuff.
Had one on my '95 Nissan Hardbody and then moved it
to my 2009 Tacoma but could not bring it forward again.
The Gladiator fuel filler bump out interfered with it.

The storage bag with the foam block on the bottom is more difficult to store than the older freedom storage bags. I have been leaving the tops and bag at home. I bought the Alien sunshades and love them. A less expensive option. When July, Aug & Sep arrives, I will have to figure out how to store them as it gets way too hot here in Nevada if you are driving in the heat of the day.

In the bed, under the tonneau. Same place it goes when the panels are in it.

I have been leaving the tops and bag at home.
I never do that if going more than 20 minutes away.
I'm very thankful I leave the bag in the truck and if the panels are out, they are in the bag in the back of the truck.
We were 60 minutes away from home when this hit Iowa -

Jeep Gladiator Where do you keep your freedom panel storage bag in the jeep? 1715881736151-a3

and we were in the middle of it before we got home. I will never leave home for very far without those panels.

There was no rain or storms in the forecast. You can have a perfect day in the weather forecast and get 5" of rain in an hour that same day.

My wife was on the phone while we were parked and she was talking to the owner of a store and the store owner told my wife park the vehicle somewhere and head for cover NOW! My wife said no, we're going home, we can beat this thing. I tossed the panels back on in record time and we hit the road.

Panels stay with me.
