That is not a HF hitch skid, he took a receiver hitch drop hitch cut it and welded it, which is pretty cool, only negative is it doesn’t protect the tow eyes directly but would almost all the time…..Jack

Finally played with my hitch skid from Warfab, I never can leave things alone, just had to modify it, by cutting the width down to just quarter inch past the tow eyes , cut the corners where I will walk into it at a forty five angle, rounded every edge and took about an inch out of the depth of it by cutting it and getting it welded. Have to paint it yet but am happy with it, is only as big as it has to be and the factory setup really hugs the bumper, the shackle eye does not touch the plastic bumper but is as close as it could get……Jack

pictures are before the rounding of edges , I’ll post a finished picture soon.

Pictures of finished skid, the two improvements were reducing how much it is below the tow eyes to about 1/4”, and rounding off those two corners at outside top, walking into it just moves your leg out no pain. I don’t think I’ll drive around with it in and have it under rear seat , and might glue a piece of 1/4” rubber onto skid to make it tight to tow eyes with rubber between them. Remember I’m a poser, but live close to Rauch creek and missed a get together recently and am going to go run some trails, not lifted much ,no big tires but have the Rusty’s and Hardrock skids for shocks and control arms already. My skid is the short version, seems about right.
Happy Thanksgiving folks!…..Jack

I'm happy with my Warfab Sheridan.
As am I. I have the Sheridan short version. I slid down a rock wall slowly and used the skid instead of rear wheels. I didn’t even know until the spotter told me after. Worked great.

I understand the intent, to protect the hitch receiver, but doesnt a hard hit risk bending the hitch itself (cross member) not to mention the vehicle frame that the hitch is attached to. Suppose an occasional hit, vrs. knowing its there and making it a pivot as needed

I see it as a attempt to protect the hitch receiver and bumper, and most videos of people dragging the hitch or a skid plate are slow motion going up or down a drop off, Hitch should take that protected or not......Jack

I recommend that anyone who thinks these are frivolous, take your rig to Moab. With a JT, even going very slowly, 30 degree descents on slick rock eventually have a bottom. Often way too narrow to angle down to avoid the rear. The very slight loss of departure angle is actually helpful, as that 1” makes the skid hit before the entire width of the bumper in almost all cases.

I used the heck out of my Warfab Pershing skid at Windrock Park last week. It was the skid that got used the most. Definitely saved bumper and hitch damage and I had no worries dragging it anywhere I went. I am on 3" lift and 37" patagonia's. Second most used skid was probably the Rusty's frame side control arm skids.
