Anyone within reason,,it is a machine. While I do "love"it, I enjoy seeing others have fun and enjoy it also. If it breaks or whatever,,fix it. If someone wants to test drive a "real" one instead of going to the dealer, take it. I have no issue with letting someone I know drive it.
Exactly, its just a truck. Its fun and cool but they made a bunch of them. I want it to produce smiles.

Pretty much anyone that wants to drive it I'll let them, but it's a manual - so not too many people I know can actually drive it.

My dad drove mine once right after I picked it up, but that will likely be the only time. My wife will be driving it from time to time, but that's probably it. Honestly, part of the reason I bought a manual was to keep people from asking to borrow it. Not to mention the last time I let a buddy drive one of my vehicles this happened.

He can’t drive it yet but this put it in perspective for me. Driving it home from the dealer in NC and I look in the mirror and my 3 yr old has his finger buried in his nose. I said buddy, what are you doing? Get a tissue and that better not end up in my new truck. He gets big crocodile tears in his eyes and I am thinking that I hurt his feelings. He looks at me and says ā€œDaddy...I thought this was my truckā€

I agree with many other posters...I bought it to bring joy...anyone needing to be filled up can get behind the wheel.

I let my son take it again. This time to Homecoming. He was only suppose to have his male friend in the truck. When I got in it the next morning there was glitter all over the passenger side and a bit on the driver.

I went in the house and asked him who else did he have in my truck he said no one. So I asked when did Jeff start wearing glitter. He told me that there was glitter all over the tables and it was imposable to not get it all over you. He said they laid down hoodies and a blanket but it still managed to get all over.

I think his story is plausible so I'll take it as the truth. He is a good kid. He grabbed the vac and was out the door to clean it up before I even had to asked.

So far only my son and my dad have driven it. My son panics now because he screwed up and stalled it at a toll booth on the OH Turnpike. Now, I can't get him to just drive it again. My dad found backing up hard. My daughter has yet to see it. It will be like pulling teeth to get her to drive it; she has yet to drive the Porsche. :crying:

As long as folks know how to drive a stick, I've let them drive my JK over the past (nearly) 13 years. So, I expect it will be the same for the JT. Since I do a lot of filming for my YouTube channel, it's necessary or my vehicle isn't included in the shots. Which brings up a funny story--stop me if you've heard this before. I've shared it quite a bit.

Few years ago I was at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in San Diego County. I'd shot it before, and we were headed down through a canyon that had some nice switchbacks that I wanted to shoot from above. So, I called over the CB to my friend Jack, who'd I'd driven the Washington Backcountry Discovery Route with a couple years earlier. His dad, whom I'd not met before, a British immigrant to the U.S., was riding with him.

"Jack, does your dad know how to drive a stick?"
"<Lots of laughter>"
"What am I missing, Jack?"
"Of course he does, He's a race car driver."
"Oh"

So, I'm thinking local sprint cars, drags, dirt track or such. Couple nights later, we we're all at dinner on our final evening together. Matthew, who was driving his own Jeep, notices Jack's watch.

"Jack, is that a Rolex?"
"Yep."
"I'm a big fan. May I see?"
<Hands it over>
"Oh wow, a 24 Hours of Daytona replica. These are rare."
"It's not a replica. My dad won the 24 Hours of Daytona. Twice. He gave it to me."

I was questioning the credentials of a two-time winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona to drive my Jeep. I've since researched his record, and he has a lot more wins. He's a really cool guy, and I've been on a couple other trips with him, with more planned. More info on him ...

And if you want to hear his cool, English accent, watch the Mojave Road videos on DigitalByDoiron. He did much of the narration of the route.

I have a manual. I am the only one in my household that can drive it :)

My wife wasn't a fan of me getting a Gladiator in the first place. Impracticable, ugly, expensive, yada, yada, yada. Obviously I won that battle! Shortly after the purchase I MADE her drive it to get used to it in the off chance she NEEDS to drive it someday. My bad because ever since then she's looking for excuses to drive it. And now she likes it even more because of the new big tires! Don't get me wrong, I love that she loves it, but it's still my baby.

So my question to you is who do YOU let drive your new baby, OR maybe even more importantly who will NEVER be given the keys?
Me, myself and I. Loaning your cars out is a bad move.

I think I'm the only one besides an ex-girlfriend. she was a pretty terrible driver, and my insurance specifically said she can not drive my truck when i requested a quote to add a driver... however i cant deny someone the joy of driving a jeep, and we were camping in a childhood favorite spot. So i let her drive it on the old road i first learned to drive on, she got to drive an entire mile and a half on a dirt road going about 20 mph... see, I'm not stingy

My husband and mom have both driven it twice. If they continue to be nice to me, I’ll let them drive it a couple more times each :)

Since I bought it, no one has driven it but me, myself, and I.

Well wait, it had an alignment, so they drove it.
