Who got you into Jeeps and why did it stick??

good question... tho I had driven jeeps since the late 70's... I think the bug finally got me in 1987...my first jeep... a YJ with the square headlights.

My grandfather would drive us around in his late ‘40s Jeepster. Although it was 2WD, I was hooked. Got a ‘55 M38-A1 mil surplus in high school and I was HOOKED! I’ve had many over the years, but my JT is the first to have AC, the 3rd to have a heater, and the second to have a radio. Here is a photo of one of my favorites. The 64 CJ 3-B was my newest CJ.

15 years old, a learners permit and $500 American dollars. ??•lllll• 1984 Jeep Cj7 Forrest green and a tan top. 5 speed. Straight 6. I’ll never forget my first Jeep. Fast forward 20+ years. My wife has had 2 Wranglers. 2 door to a 4 door unlimited. Now she’s a Grand Cherokee Momma. Haha. I remember the Gladiator “concept truck” in 2005. 2 door Forrest green in motor trend magazine. Had to have one.

When I was a young teenager, I would pick rocks in the summers for my brother-in-law on his farm. He would come to town and pick me up in his YJ (which he never had doors or a top on - regardless of the weather).

The feeling of going down the highway with no doors, looking directly down at the white line on the road was thrilling... even a little scary at my age at the time.. Then add in all the other unique driving experiences we did with that Jeep: down road ditches, into fields, through brush, down minimum maintenance roads, taking shelter during pop up rain storms... good times!

Grew up with them, my dad always had a Jeep and i still have my first one i ever bought. Heres my 96 xj and my second wrangler 15 jk sport

It's been in my blood from before birth...

My mom had a CJ-5 she rolled across I-26 while pregnant with me. That was in 1975. It got replaced with another jeep that I remember riding in for many of my younger years. Yellow with white steel wheels. I'd give anything to be able to track that thing down and buy it.

What really sealed the deal was the blizzard of 93. I was in a front wheel drive car and swore that I would never get stuck again. It took me till 1999 to get one but I've had one of some variety ever since.

My 25 year old VW decided to give up the ghost and I needed a new car.

Walked up and down our local Auto Row and the Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep dealership caught my eye.

Yeah... not as romantic as "My dad and my dad's dad and my dad's dad's dad had a Jeep".

Is it going to stick? TBD...

My first jeep was in 1970 in Viet Nam. Loved it. I’ve had six since that. The current is a Ruby Gladiator. Loved them all. It’s addicting.

My dad taught me to drive in his Golden Eagle CJ7 back around 1980. A few years later when I was 16, he told me I could have the Jeep or we would sell it and I could get a pickup. Being a dumb kid, I decided on a pickup and got a new Ford Ranger for $5,300. I have regretted that decision my entire life but now I am finally where I should have been all along.

• Dad worked at a Chrysler dealer which became a Jeep dealer too his whole life.
• When he passed they basically gave me a nice 2000 Cherokee for dirt cheap to help me commute to college.
• Girlfriend (now wife) had 3 Wranglers 1 being my current JKU when she couldn’t get into it while carrying our first born.

I remember riding around in my grandfather's 194x Willis Wagon as a small child, my parents bought their 1990 YJ new. My first Jeep was a 1964 Wagoneer, and I have had 7 other Jeeps (mostly Full size Wagoneers and Cherokees) since then.

We bought a Jeep because my wife was commuting between 3.5 to 5 hours every day depending on how on point the trains were.
At the same time, my family told us to take care of my grandmother and bring her to Germany from Hungary and back again for treatment several times.
So we bought a GC 2005 CRD, new fluids, brakes and a set of winter tires. Off we went. On the way there, slept in the boot in a castle parking lot (just a few blankets and pillows, 2 small doggies as warmers) and then back in one go.
Not a hitch.

After the trip we joined the Jeep Forum on an irl meet at an offroad park with campground, camped in a tarp self-made tent and loved the community. Now it is Jeep all the way!

Will it stick?

My Gladiator is the first Jeep I've ever owned because I basically didn't feel I "needed" a Jeep until now (I needed a truck). Everyone in the OC basically knows my truck as the "Jurassic Park Jeep". I coach baseball, basketball, and soccer, so all my kids and families know where "Coach" is at all times. Ha.

This is the coolest vehicle I've ever owned and I don't see that passion and love for the Jeep Way of Life ending anytime soon.

Vacationed in Moab to hike Arches. Rented a Jeep to checkout Canyonlands. Took the Shafer Trail down and did parts of White Rim.
