I’ve been having nothing but the absolute worst luck getting gears. It’s almost like a sign that I shouldn’t, but the 3.73s aren’t cutting it with 37s and overlanding gear. So far I have tried:

* Dana 4.88s from Amazon: had chips/cracks
* Yukon 4.88s and 5.13s from Amazon (was on the fence): both sets had chips/cracks
* Revolution Gear 4.88s: misled me about ETA, so I cancelled
* Nitro 4.88s from Amazon: wasn’t actually in stock

I think G2 is the only option left, but I don’t know where to get those. Seriously…are gears that difficult to make? Or are they that popular?

Have you talked with the shop your having them installed at? They have their reps that will get you a better idea plus the shops warranty if they mess things up.

I think the lesson here is do not buy from Amazon. Use a reputable shop that specializes in these parts. I got my Yukon 5.13 full kits front and back in a couple days. Went through 4wheelparts in town.

It was mostly due to lack of stock on most if not all sites. Either they were 30+ days out or no eta at all. I’ve gotten plenty of things from Amazon without issue - but I guess maybe this is one you shouldn’t. FWIW I got my Mopar lift from Amazon, which happened to be from a Jeep dealer.

Try off-road elements in MA (online.) They are great to work with. I had zero issues getting what I needed.

My installer ordered my Motiv 4.88s about two weeks ago and they came in last Friday. Unfortunately it will be another two weeks before they can get installed due to both of our schedules.

A buddy ordered the same gears through another installer and had the work done last week.

Got mine through JK Land in Douglasville GA. Order and install didn't take long. Cant speak to 5.13s but my 4.88s with 37s, imo is perfect. Feel like I'm driving a stock JT again.

My installer was struggling with install kits, ECGS had them in stock.
Their site doesnt call out JT, but in the JL section you can find stuff for our axles. Or give them a call.

Another vote for loving my 5:13s

Hasn't been much of an issue for me the past 2 years....Done quite a few installs. Spicers currently in stock at my distributor. Maybe it's low bidders having the issues?

What sort of chipping and cracking are you seeing on Yukon gears? Were they used?

Got pics?

Seriously…are gears that difficult to make?

Most aftermarket gears are either made in Korea, China or India and the quality kind of goes in that order, with the Korean gears typically being the better.
And many of the aftermarket gears are made on the same assembly line, just put in different boxes.

Then throw in the supply chain issues, especially with supplies coming via cargo ships.....

I never really thought to look at the singular SKUs - I only ever focused on front and rear complete set.

They didn’t seem used as far as the packaging goes. I’ll post some pics in a little bit.
