I don't. I use the step to steady myself but I don't actually touch the jeep.
guess it all depends on your specific vehicle. let me say, undoing years of getting out of vehicles this way may be hard. Not as hard as waiting for the damn Jeep to arrive, but first world problem hard.

I always tell my wife... right foot on the step rail, right hand on the grab handle, swing your *** in. It's way easier that way. I do the reverse on the driver side.

The problem with the Wrangler/Gladiator is the step in height is really high, but the roof line is really low. So, you almost have to find a routine to make ingress/egress easier on a daily basis.

I've been getting in and out of jeeps for 40 years now. Each one is different but you get the swing quick enough. My first was a 59 Kaiser-Willys. It was my first car I bought. This is my current, until my JT

Chuck Norris doesn't step out of his Jeep, the Jeep steps slowly away from him.
NICE! I really like this one, but they're all so good really.

Those are Rugged Ridge, and they're steel. They were $170 for the set when I got them. They will hold the weight of the rig if I laid her on her side; they would be crumpled a bit. If you get outside the big brands there are some good deals if you look.

Three weeks in with the JT and I've thought about this too. My Overland has the side step. I don't use it because I'm just tall enough (5-10) to step directly in, but my wife and kids wouldn't be able to enter without it. I'm planning for bigger tires and maybe a lift, so the step will be useful, but then I'm at an awkward height to use it. I kinda just want to man-up, grab a grab-handle and pull myself in.

Hey, now that I got my JT, I've discovered what works for me and I think somebody on here already posted it.

grab A-pillar handle with right hand.
I think I might also grab steering wheel with left hand (can't remember)
put right foot on floor mat
step up with left foot and pull with right arm
swing ass over the left bolster of the seat.

getting out is just the reverse.

Funny thing though, i started this thread talking about how I get into and out of my van a different way, and now with the JT i get in/out the same way........Interesting. :movember:

So you can go in and out lots of ways in a Jeep, right? Some get a leg up using right foot first, others, left foot. So if you park tight, simply exit back, left, front, out the top, over a wheel, slide right over the hood. I'd say variety is the spice of life. Yo! See below for helpful examples:

post of the century- this beats my post about turning the bed into a hot tub!

Just remove the whole window and "dukes of hazard" after sliding across the hood
