Why cigarette lighter and not 12v DC???

seriously though, i think you have a right to be pissed, not what you ordered, no reason for you to have to deal with the hassle especially if they made you pay for the bed cover. i'll send you my take-off 12v, will take payment via fellow jeep owner karma points

id be contacting the dealership manager on this or even the owner of the dealership, even if you signed the paperwork they still made a mistake and should correct it.

I have called and emailed my dealership every day with no response. Went in today and the manager happened to be out with a customer. Ask to have him call me today, nothing. I feel I'm totally getting the cold shoulder from my dealership.

keep showing up at the dealership phone calls and emails arent the same as face to face. This is no way to treat a customer. Manager is the only one to talk too.

In all seriousness, I think the dealer sold you a Gladiator that had been on their lot for a while instead of the actual vehicle you ordered. Did they give you a VIN # a few days after you place the order? Does it match the vehicle that you took delivery of? Did you pay the same price that you negotiated before the order was placed? Something doesn't add up here.

If it was a cusTom order - your name would be on the window sticker. If it was off the lot, just the dealer is on the window sticker.

Cellphone chargers/GPS’S (at least for a time) were too loose for real cigarette lighter sockets. They’d pop-out on their own. Many chargers came with a ‘shim’ to take-up the slop. I was driving German cars years back. Maybe that had something to do with it..

Yes, that’s a German thing. I have a 911SC and it needs a plastic sleeve to run American accessories in the lighter port. And on another note, I have Triumph motorcycles and the power port on those are European and much smaller than ours.

I need to flat tow our 22 Gladiator behind our motorhome and was disappointed the 12V receptacle is only active when the ACC or Engine is running. I needed power for our Brake Buddy to be powered while the ignition is off. Our 2016 Rubicon had an always powered 12V receptacle inside the console which was what I needed. I wonder if the smoker group was what I actually needed with this new Gladiator?

The ACC or ignition need to be on for my cigarette lighter to work.

This part substitution may be due to the shortages being experienced on many items… instead of holding up your build because the 12v with cover was not available, they substituted the cigar lighter package to keep the build moving.

So in my JK I always just had a little dual USB adapter plugged into the 12V outlet - so if my new JT shows up in a couple weeks missing the cover that's gonna be in the way anyway and instead has a cigarette lighter that I can use to start a fire when camping when I forget my matches or torch....well that just sounds like a winning situation for me.
