I wanted a Mojave over the others for multiple reasons.

1) I do not intend to any rock crawling because I am not going to take my ‘new’ $60k truck and risk bashing in the sides unless there is an apocalypse and then I won’t really care. Therefore, the Rubi’s admirable crawl ratio is inconsequential to me for my use case.. 2) I like the frame reinforcement and *cast iron* knuckles from a durability perspective. 3) The interior has multiple subtle upgrades / changes from the standard such as the steering wheel thickness, door card changes, and the seat bolsters. 4) It rides / drives far more pleasantly than one would expect thanks to the suspension. 5) It was there. The dealer had one on the lot that turned into a great deal from a financial perspective. It had almost all of the upgrades / additions I was planning other than a set of 35’s. (I found a used set from a great member here and cured that issue).

I did consider the Rubi and may have gotten one if the Mojave hadn’t worked out so you aren’t going to go ‘wrong’.

One of the prior comments about “does not fit Mojave” is true but I’ve seen that mostly in add on exterior bits that deal with the hood / cowl area. The suspension is slightly different but also as noted the 2” AEV spacer lift and shock brackets did more than enough for me since the Mojave / Rubi are already slightly higher than the other models and have a different fender position. I also think insofar as you want to disconnect your sways the Autolinx seems to be a better system, though you don’t have the In-cab fancy push button disconnect.

Just my experience / thought process.
What is the door card changes?

Man... 6 pages of dick-measuring vs. the Mojave... LOL!!! (JK! Don't get your rocks in a twist, ppl!)
Reading so many people justifying not picking the Mojave and all its awesomeness, actually reinforces how much I know I made the right choice - especially for the way I drive and use my Gladiator.

Again... all jokes, ppl! You do you at the end of the day.

@Phishs Apparently the door cards are different in the Mojave versus the other. The handle area is reworked. I only learned this when someone tried to convert their door pull on a non-Mojave to have the Mojave handle (IIRC for the stiching) and they were not bolt-in as expected. I think it is a longer arm rest area.

OP- Go back and test drive the two versions.
This time, take a wide sweeping corner at speed as the salesperson presses their feet into the floor and stabilizes themselves against the center console and grab bar. My guess is......you'll pick the Mojave.
Another point...where I live, the roads are horrible. The Mojave suspension eats them up better than I could ever have imagined.
Rubi is pretty sweet though, if you plan to use all the features and rock it more than than road it.

I wanted to ultimately have a good winch and a moderate 2” lift. Nothing crazy. I struggled to compare the Mojave and the Rubicon trims.

Right or wrong, at the time (and before I joined the Forum) I concluded that the winch needed a steel bumper, and that winch-bumper combo needed spacers to correct the resulting front end sag. Adding another 2” of spacers to get the lift seemed like a crazy big stack of spacers, so I resigned myself to getting a “real” lift with longer shocks. At that point the Mojave didn’t compare well to the Rubicon.

Was I wrong?

Sounds right to me.

That isn't Mojave specific. It's factory leather vs not factory leather.

You got to get the one you like best. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.
I rode in the Rubi and the Mojave. Honestly, for me and only me, the Rubi was a better fit. For my buddy, the Rubi was a better fit. For another friend, the Mojave was a better fit.

To each their own. Had I found a Mojave that had the same amount of miles on it, in a color acceptable to my wife and was the same or better price, I may have gone with one. I didn't and I'm very happy with the Rubicon I found.

I get it. No one wants to admit they made the wrong choice on a $50K+ truck and therefore will expound on the reasons why one is better than the other.

Drive both, make your choice and be happy with it.

... Check out this youtube video from Terraflex on the difference offroad between the Rubicon vs the Mojave Gladiators offroad. - (1) JT Extended Travel Systems | TeraFlex - YouTube
That video isnt a stock Mojave it's the teraflex shocks and springs and long arms, the only thing left Mojave on it is the hood lol. Any gladiator can be made to ride like that if you drop the 5k on parts to swap it.

I went back and re watched the video, seems a little unclear, but I think you may be right. My impression is Dennis drives the stock Rubicon, then the Teraflex Gladiator, then he drives a stock Mojave. If you are right, it's strange they didn't compare a stock Rubicon to a stock Mojave.

he also noted the 2nd vehicle- the Teraflex Rubicon had suspension very similar to a Mojave suspension and it was worlds better than the Rubicon offroad.

I snagged a Rubicon last year. There weren't a lot of options when I was looking and I needed it for work. Its been absolutely great. Now, things have changed. I moved to Houston where the roads are absolute crap, and I would really appreciate the Mojave suspension. The Rubicon fox shocks absolutely cannot handle the beat up roads here.

The teraflex 2nd one is nothing like the stock Mojave. It's got non-bypass shocks, longer different rate coils, full steering setup by teraflex, and significantly more travel than a stock Mojave or Rubicon. The only thing that video shows is how much better a Rubicon can ride if you drop 2-3k for the 2nd one or 5kish for the 3rd one.

I agree. I do think the Mojave has a 100% better ride over the rough stuff, as in my local Jeep club we compared the Rubicon vs the Mojave a few months ago and hands down the Mojave was a better ride on/off road.
