What trim do you have on the GC? The WK2 can tow if equipped properly. My avatar shows my '14 EcoDiesel Limited with my old toy hauler (just sold it) that was ~5000 lb empty. I've towed it higher than the 7200 lb rating with no issues. Just yesterday I had to use the GC to pull my tractor out of a mud, uphill in the dirt, after it got buried to the axles...no issues. I was surprised that they now show the current WK2 Limited at 7200 lb towing with the V6. When I bought mine I think the V6 was closer to 6000 lb.
I have the Limited ( Sterling Edition) 3.6 L. Rated for 6200# with the "self adjusting rear shocks". Tow Group IV.
Not sure what lb ft. of torque your Eco diesel is but the V6 is only 260, so not a lot of stump pulling power there.
Once the wife loads every damn thing in the trailer and fill it up with water, tools, generator, a couple of beers,
I am getting close to 5500-6000#. Your 7200# rating is for the Hemi. I had a 17 Ram 2500 with the slurp, slurp 6.4,
didn't even know the trailer was back there. I know the JT is rated higher with basically the same 3.6, but it's built as a truck, with a stronger chassis set up. Still can't see it pulling
much of a grade at speed when towing a TT. Maybe I need to wait for the Diesel.

The EcoDiesel is also 7200 lb. on the JGC, which is why I went that route...towing of the V8 with fuel economy better than the V6. It tows like a dream and never felt the trailer even climbing mountains. Of course, that was the first vehicle with the EcoDiesel so I got to deal with all of the exhaust issues (and example of first model year issues with a new vehicle...). Can't wait to get the EcoDiesel settlement, then unload it and get a gas JT (especially since the JT diesel will have less towing capacity than the V6).

I don't think I can wait 3 or 4 years!
I have been without a truck for 3 months now and starting to regret that.
Another problem, is convincing my wife to sell her JK so we can buy the JT.
She really loves the little Jeep, it's 8 yrs old, now has 30,000 miles on it and is near mint.
Really not sure if the WK2 is going to be up to the task of towing our trailer that's 4400lbs dry,
with the 3.6. I know it's the same engine in the JT, but it's a truck and rated higher for towing.
Sport S loaded up and Sting Grey is my thoughts currently.
Too each his own. I understand your dilema. I am without a truck right now and miss it immensely. I just wish they weren't so dang expensive.

What does it mean ESS quit working? Like ... In traffic the car died? And what does it mean fix? Like... You paid money and lost use of your vehicle?
Quit working, as in, the ESS feature no longer worked.

The vehicle was in the shop for a total of about two weeks. At first they tried replacing the IBS and the auxiliary battery (JLs and JTs have two batteries). That didn't solve it. After many days of deliberating, they got into contact with FCA corporate engineering and FCA walked them through a "re-learn" procedure which requires the scan tool plus drive cycles, with four hours sitting between cycles. It's a lengthy process. Since then, it's worked flawlessly for the last 4 months.

I will add that while I was driving the Jeep with ESS dead, my weekly fuel economy took a dive. It's very evident in my fuelly.com chart. Once ESS was operational again, my fuel economy returned to where it was before.

Lol, wasn't looking for pity, and my warranty is the same as anybody else. My point was
to do with the headaches of first year production machines. I am fortunate to have the close connection for getting warranty work done sooner than most, but if it turns out to be an ongoing thing with issues I won't be happy regardless of who I am sleeping with.
I used to track a BMW M3 a bit. It wasn't stock. And knowing the service manager allowed me to get things fixed that BMW would otherwise have voided my warranty for. Thats all I was saying and I wasn't trying to trash you but simply sportingly tease you about it. I hope my initial tone didn't seen aggressive or offensive. But I do understand what you mean. Thing I hate most about adulting is making real decisions with real consequences.

So as the title says, are you really ready to be a "beta tester" for Jeep?
I really like the look of the JT, BUT, I have been down the "first year production" road
before. Even if there are no serious issues mechanically, structurally, electrical, etc.,
the pricing is usually not discounted, then there is the usual differences that follow in the second year. Colors, option choices, some features become standard that were optional.
I am Sooo tempted to order one when available this year, but a little voice in my head says
wait a year.
BUT, my wife is the service manager at the local Jeep dealership, so if it turns out
to have a lot of issues, she knows of them first, and she can take it to work and get it fixed
ASAP.
AND YOU CAN REPORT IT HERE 1ST ! ! !

I have never bought a first year production, and likely never would. However, I plan on buying a JT as soon as ordering opens for the same reason Matstock4 mentioned, I think the JL worked a lot of the bugs out. I expect some issues along the way, I'm just hoping it's not when I am above treeline on a trail.
Have they though ? "Some" granted, but just look at the latest update - bushings thing ! JT is (we hope) ALL truck underneath, with the "sheepish" cover of a JL lurking topside ! I'm staying positive, but I'm one of those . . . "trust, but verify" types !
So the Waiting game will be toward Fall for me ! Of course IF the Pricing is not my cup of tea, then the JLU is still up for grabs .

I bought a first year JLU too. The only issue I had was some of the 7 inch uconnect issues. Once the TSB was applied it has been perfect.

Also the price has gone up 3 times since I bought and interest rates have gone up as well.

There are issues on some 2018 JLUs. There are also issues on some 2019 JLUs. There will probably be issues on some 2022 JLUs. It's a crap shoot anyhow.

It is also a lot of fun getting the first model year. Everything is new and exciting.

No offence taken, that's the problem with written word sometimes, you can't "hear" the tone in which it was said.
Cheers!

The issues I had were:

- CarPlay didn't connect consistently
- The CarPlay Nav would be stuck and would always think I was in Western NC no matter where I actually was

Both were fixed by a UConnect update.

The big differences with the 8.4 is size, Navigation, and some advanced uconnect features. For example you can get an app on your hone and use it for remote start. I think there are also some advanced traffic and weather features? I have a Sport S so the 8.4 wasn't an option.

I should know/remember this; no NAV on the 7" !? No biggy as I use my iPAD for that - my G.C. with 8.4 also has No Nav. !
Thanks
