I'm a railfan. I enjoy watching trains and sometimes take pictures and videos of them. Today I spent the late morning at my usual spot watching freight trains go by. This crossing only has crossbucks and a stop sign. Unfortunately this particular guy decided not to stop. My Jeep was literally INCHES from getting hit with something! Somehow there's not a scratch on it. I'm also fine, and the driver is fine.

That was too close for comfort! Really dodged a bullet. With the mass of a train coming down the track I like to stay back from the tracks. After watching your video think I will stay even further back at RR tracks. Nice looking Gladiator!

Has NS reached out to you for the video or statement?
I can only imagine they have their own cameras at this point.

Maybe send them the video and ask for a train ride.

BTW - nice hitch

Did the train eventually stop? I can only imagine that it would take half a mile or more to come to a complete stop.

I remember coming across a car/train accident when I was a teen. It was a crossing like the one in your video except there were wooden drawbars that drop over the road. Well the driver decided they were tired of waiting and drove around the drawbars..........and got wiped out. All I saw was bits of shredded car everywhere. There really was nothing left of it. All the car passengers were dead.

Stay smart people.......

Dad was a locomotive engineer and he hit and killed many people in his career. He always told me never to trust the lights, they dont go off all the time. And yes it takes MILES for them to stop.

That said, crazy video!
Im curious what the driver said. He never even stopped at the sign.

Well, something unusual to add to your train spotting list!
