It's a fucking terrible truck compared to the rest of what's out there and you're paying well-equipped F-150 prices for one.
That's pretty exaggerated in my opinion and experience coming from a Colorado. They both ride like trucks, and neither are "effing terrible" in any measure. Payload is the main thing I think should be a little better in the Gladiator.

Thats definitely my experience coming from a Tacoma and having driven a Ranger for a week. They all ride like a truck but the handling is miles ahead on the IFS platforms.

Fair point, IFS is no doubt going to be smoother, but honestly it wasn't enough of a difference for me to actually notice the first time I drove the Jeep.

Same thing when I went from my first truck (Ford ranger with twin I beams) to the Colorado. But I like old trucks so maybe that's built in to my expectations.

I see LED's being standard eventually and probably around either a new generation change or even possibly if their is a model refresh mid cycle.

It sort of reminds me of Toyota Tacoma's even until current having drum brakes in the rear when everybody else has long gone to disc brakes. There has to be some intrinsic paid off capital cost for them to keep drums around for rear brakes for as long as they have. Supposedly the next gen Tacoma's in 2024 will finally have rear disc brakes.
So where’s your cutoff? I see $57k Mojave’s still sporting halogens….. Ridiculous.

Or you can get a $52245 Mojave with LEDs. Or a 40k sport with them. It's an option not dependant on much else, so some people choose to have them, some choose not to have them, at all price points on the JT. Some people don't want to pay for the LEDs because they like halogens. Some people don't want to pay for them because they want to buy aftermarket lights instead. The fact that you can get a $57k Mojave without LEDs is irrelevant, because you can get a Mojave for much less than that with them.

After deducting the options the other one did not have, I came to the price delta of $6400 between the two. That price difference was not all inflation price increasing, it was now forcing as standard the 8.4 Alpine radio system, Proximity Door Lock and few other small odds and end that are now standard on the 2022 that were not on my 2020 Gladiator Rubicon. I would have been fine with the 7.0 Radio and Proximity Door locks not being on my 2022 to recoup the cost savings but that just was not possible anymore. Adding LED's as standard would have added another $1K or so for something I would not value.

I couldn't afford a new one right now. I'd get a 4 door wrangler probably. The base price on the Rubicon has gone up $6000 since I bought mine. Mine is pretty basic for a Rubicon. I have proximity and CWP. But no 8.4 inch screen.

I'm just skipping to the end here..... I had a 2020 ZR2 with the Diesel. It was the best handling truck I've ever had, for reference I've had a 2009 Tacoma reg cab with full OME suspension, a 2014 F150 reg cab with Fox 2.0 suspension, a 2015 JK with a great frankenlift but still on Fox 2.0 shocks, a 2017 JKU on JKS suspension, a 2018 tacoma TRD off-road with Eibach suspension, a 2019 4Runner with Fox 2.0 suspension, a 2020 Gladiator with JKS again, then the ZR2 and now Mojave.

Had it not been for DEF system issues after my 2nd winter with the ZR2 I'd still be driving it. The Mojave doesn't compare in overall ride quality. Of course the seats and interior are better in the 2022 Mojave but it looks like the 2023 ZR2 has resolved that interior inadequacy. The new powertrain has yet to be proven but the numbers are looking good. Will be curious how the mpg's in the real world go. The Mojave on 35's is terrible in the city and not much different than the other vehicles on the hwy except the ZR2 which was way way better, loaded, unloaded, canoe on the roof, whatever.

Ppl making Tacoma comparisons likely have little real world experience with the two. The TRD Pro is not even comparable, they still have driveline vibes just like the 2005's. I still like the Tacoma's but the ZR2 is a much more enjoyable truck out of the box.

Won’t be hard for me, ZR2 will replace the Mojave in 2yrs or less!…. I miss my 2020 ZR2 handling. The fact that they got the sunroof now is fantastic! I ran 33 inch pizza cutters but now figure the new ZR2 will handle the nice Mickey Thompson 35x10.5s! But wait, will Toyota stop shitting the bed and do something awesome?!?! Probably not ?

The power numbers look great, 310 hp and 390-430 ft/lbs is phenomenal. The suspension on the upper trims will be sweet too. The interiors are finally something I would consider and not made by Rubbermaid.

I don’t know about the cylinder deactivation though. How’s that going to feel on a 4 cyl. Not to mention some of the issues GM is having with that on the 1500.

nice to see the midsize market getting some attention and the manufacturers are finally getting off their asses.

It's a CHEVY. Can it run 37s? Can you change the gears to spin bigger tires? Can you take the top off? Can you take the doors off? Are there companies and catalogs of 1,000's of aftermarket products you can buy to modify them?

Gladiators :LOL: at "competitors" - if you want to buy a Chevy or a Taco or a 4Runner you'd have done that and you'd be on their forums
Clearly you have not bothered to look at the specs for the 2023 Colorado or Canyon.

No, the doors and roof don't come off and it likely cannot run 37s (but a very minuscule number of Gladiator even run 37s and you can only even drop that after dropping substantial sums on aftermarket parts - so not sure your point there).

Also I would be interested to see how many owners actually utilize the top off let along take off the doors more than once or twice (at least around where I live most owners just leave the hard top fixed year round, maybe they take the freedom panels off every now and then - but a sunroof can accomplish much of that purpose).

Some of the newer features on the GM twins are pretty slick, including the drive modes, underbody cameras, let alone the powertrain.

Just to clarify -- and I'm not sure if you were saying this or not, but you can fit 37's with very little money. Just a spacer kit on Rubicon -- few hundred $$$. My buddy just bought (few days ago) a fully loaded out EcoDiesel Rubicon '22 with 1k miles for $57k private party. It had a spacer and 37's (Toyo MT).

I really think the Canyon looks nice. If I didn't rock crawl, that's the truck I'd probably veer towards, unless the '24 Tacoma looks better. Can't fit a full size in my garage.
