Removed a good amount of metal particulates from my 8 speed today. 4 1/2 quarts came out….5 3/4 quarts went in. Only 18k “old man” miles on her.
Where’s all the peeps who think these are “lifetime” No fluid change transmissions? Lmao. Good luck with that kinda thinking.

When I did my pan drop and fluid/filter change on my 2020 Gladiator at 30K miles, that was about the amount of material I had on my magnet also. I do not think that is linear wear amount of material with probably the majority of it happening within the first 10K miles.

FWIW, I drained roughly 6 quarts of fluid and about that same amount went back in doing the temp refill procedure for it.

Did you use ZF approved fluid on the refill?

What concerned me the most was the filter being covered in this same material, at least from what I can see in the top hole. I’ll probably cut it open 2moro if I get bored just to see.
I used the million dollar mopar 8&9 speed stuff.

Keep in mind that you are going to have a non metallic black gritty film covering everything else to include the bottom of the pan and the filter. That is normal to see on the first pan drop. What you do not want to see is excessive aluminum material that the magnet does not pickup indicating a problem valve body and I really do not see that in your video.

Unless you had shifting issues to begin with, I would not get spooled up on what you have seen and the material you have removed from the magnets looks normal to me.

If I find anything concerning I’ll post it up. I’ve always hated the way this thing up-shifts. It will go into 8th gear @ 46mph. Thats not normal to me. I live in the mountains so unless I put her in manual mode, it can up & down shift 3 million times in a 20 minutes drive.

Threw on a Motobilt diff cover and Next Venture diff skid I picked up (brand new and powdercoated!) off a dude on the JL forums. Super beefy and I like that the skid covers the pinion seal and yoke.

You’ll love this skid. I’ve hit it dead on lots of times and there’s not a scratch on the diff cover or pinion. It’s bullet proof.

Right now I have 2 inch spacer from Iron Rock Offroad in the rear and Clayton replacement springs that give 1/2 inch lift to gladiators. I don't mind a little rake, but it will be close to or over 3 inches once I add bumper/winch unless the spacer is added in the front like I wanted.
Yeah get the front spacers in there as well. These things already have 1.5”to 2” from the factory. So you must be close to 4” of rake currently.

Sanded, wire brushed, primered, and painted knockoff steel bumper that developed a quarter size rust spot next to plastic trim under Hause lead. I thought a rock caused it, but the repair ended up revealing a spot under the paint roughly 1.5 by 4 inches. We’ll see how the rest holds up when it was installed less than a year ago. As a heads-up for anyone in the same situation, VHT bumper and trim paint is a close match.

Installed the front falcon shocks. Still need to get around to the rears and wiring up the electronic Adapt system. Set the front rebound to performance. Set the compression to half way. Definitely a lot firmer jumping up and down on the front vs rear Mopar 2" shocks. Also took it for a drive and the rears fell like a bounce house in comparison to the falcons. Main reason I wanted to switch out to adjustable shocks was to stiffen things up when I have all my gear, rack and tent in the rear.

I had considered hellwig…would you still recommend?
I took a closer look today. It wasn't the Hellwig that did it. My buddie who put the sway bar end links on didn't put the washers on. Looks like the top of the end link slipped off the rubber part sideways because there was nothing to hold it on.

Finally got to replace my rough country side steps with enhanced Mopar sliders I picked up like new from the member marketplace a few weeks back for a bargain. Install was a breeze on these and I'm no longer stealing ground clearance from myself!

Fixed the rubbing issues I was having with the 37's on the rear track bar by replacing it with a Clayton rear track bar. Plenty of room now! Also added the front while I was at it, feels way stronger, and I was able to center both of my axles while I was at it. A nice win.

I also have a case of severe "While I'm in here syndrome" and added the Steer smarts reinforcement bracket when I ordered the track bars. Steering feels mint ? and I feel much more comfortable with the bigger tires (they forgot to give me my new track bar bolt, I'll put the proper hardware on later)

I also made a friend when I borrowed my old man's OTHER Mopar to buy the missing bolt, it's nice to see a survivor running around town, it was even right hand drive!

Did you have to jack your rear up to center the axle with the new track bar? Mine is off about a half inch, looking to adjust my track bar to get it centered better, but hoping I don’t have to loosen control arms, shocks, end links etc, nor jack it up to do so.
