Finally did a shakedown on the new Clayton 2.5” with falcons. Soft setting on the falcons with sway bar disconnect and aired down to 18psi and it was a dream.

Got my first duck on NYE and got my Teraflex leveling kit put on with the Mopar LCA's.

Even with the 1.5" lift, pretty sure I can feel some of the extra caster with a little heavier feel in the steering.

70 degrees in mid Tenn today. I took my grandson out on the Roadglide for the annual new years day ride. Rode in short sleeves. But alas, winter has just arrived!! Might not want to bury that plow under all those waiting JT mods waiting in boxes just yet!!

My neighbor came over asking how my plow worked out. Told him great (but with only 3", was that even a test??)
I went on to say I like it and the truck handled beautifully with the plow on - but I think my choice of 1" Synergy front springs was a mistake, I think I should have gotten the 2" springs due to the drop with the weight of the plow and the other weight I have. My wife walked out as I was telling him that I think I'd be better off with different front springs.
She got in (we were leaving to go to town) and asked - you think you need different springs?
I said yeah, these are ok but it drops more than my liking and even with the plow off, it sits a bit low with the weight of the other stuff.
She asked how much and "can you do that"? Yeah.
Her reaction told me I won't have any trouble ordering the next set of front springs.

Pulled front steel bumper, rerouted the very poorly installed wiring for my winch, partial install of the new Hella LED bumper lights, and swapped the proper orange Mojave hooks in place of the red rubicon hooks. The work to swap the hooks was a bitch. And after everything in and tightened down there is obviously something misaligned internally. I’m about a 3/8 of an inch from the bumper shell being in the right position. I think there must be some interference with some portion of the crush can in the little rubber bumperettes. It’s equal on both sides and that is the only thing I can think of that could be doing it on both sides. It’s going to have to wait to another day for me to get it back off and figured out.

Almost forgot that I put the ASFIR skids in as well.

What’s the pain on swapping hooks? I’ve got a spare set so I can just install in the steel and not remove from my Mojave plastic.

All of the darned screws! You have to pull the bumper body off the mounting parts.
These pieces go onto the ends of the frame, the studs of the hooks go through these then through the frame and then the bumper is built onto these. You pretty much need to leave fasteners loose until all pieces are in place. Too many bolt things up and start tightening then struggle to put the rest of the parts on. Leaving those 8 nuts loose helps.

Building the bumper then installing it and trying to line up all 8 studs is a pain in the butt.

I have been trying to not drive much to stay away from the salt crap they spray all over the roads and reduce paint chips from impatient drivers passing and then cutting right back over. It helped that I had the flu or something during Christmas….

But, today is a pretty bluebird day about 60 degrees warmer than a couple weeks ago. 35 in the sun, so I took advantage of that and a day off to wash the JT and spray the underside to hopefully wash away some of the mag chloride and road grime.

This nice weather is making me long for spring big time so monies that were going toward my house rebuild are going to be redirected to Jeep things in hopes of being ready for a summer of camping and exploring. I already have a long list of things to install - June will be a super busy month! But I know we need so much more rain and snow. If this trend keeps up our 115% of snow water equivalent will soon drop to maybe 50. But it is nice to have a warmer and prettier day today!

My factory tow hooks were held in place by retaining washers. I used some when I installed the aluminum mopar style bumper.

It's as stout as the factory plastic bumper. Maybe lighter. Haha.
I had a rugged ridge aluminum bumper on my jku for 7 years. Was fine with that.

I had considered buying the mopar part with the crush cans.
