I have thought about this. I love riding and ride like everyone wants to kill me. Not like they could but like every car is driven by an assassin.I have dozens of pictures, but none to post.
I’ve had a lot of bikes , all kinds, over several decades, with regular training for track and for street. I had bikes when living in the rural Midwest, the middle of Chicago, and several while living in the middle of New York City. I commuted on a bike for years. I kept one stored in CA just to fly out and spend a few weeks riding from there. I also spent two straight years tent camping on a bike all across the country and most of Canada. I’ve done dozens and dozens of thousand-mile plus trips, some two-up. Many adventures, but I never had a significant accident or injury.
I gave it up a few years ago. No matter how good and experienced you are, on-road your life depends entirely on other drivers. Think about that. The quality of driving is infinitely worse than it was ten years ago, which was already disastrous compared to 20 years ago. We all made a risk-reward assessment when we started riding. That is now totally obsolete. I encourage everyone who rides on-road to make a fresh assessment in todays environment. I’m the last one to judge anybody’s personal choices, just saying it’s a different world out there now .
I ride the same, but it's real hard to avoid that head on from someone texting or cutting the corner.I have thought about this. I love riding and ride like everyone wants to kill me. Not like they could but like every car is driven by an assassin.
