I ordered a .75 for the rear as I already have the Teralfex 1.5" for the front. Just wondering if I need shock extentions for the bilstein 5100 0-1.5". I think I screwed up by not going the next size up.
Give them a call and ask. Im sure a service rep can tell you for sure if you are good to go or need to return your order and get the next size up.

Either way...stick with them. These things are friggan amazing. 18mpg winds today with gusts and I barely felt the wind hitting my drivers side flat on while driving. very impressive

I dont really off road any more and have no washboard riddled roads.

Part of my drive does however take me through a poorly maintained city with roads that may as well count as off roading! These shocks are fantastic. The truck its self moves with the bump, but the shocks absorb the majority of the hit every time. The combo of them with the falcon ts stabilizer is great.

Low speed I barely feel the bumps.

higher speeds i feel them a bit, but theyre muted and not really any issues. An by high speed I mean road creases and cracks at 65mph on nthe highway.

I think the best way I can describe it is when im pulling out of my drive way there is a bit of a drop down at the end. I used to bounce pretty hard and then up and down once with the old fox shocks ( even when they were new ) now I roll right off the end of the driveway like its not there.

Did a speed bump test. With the original Sport S shocks after a week of offroading, the fronts were leaking and I would have to slow way down for a speed bump lest the vehicle crash into the front bump stops. In fact it was crashing the bump stops even while crawling offroad.

With the new 5100s, I took a 25mph speed bump at 25mph and the vehicle seemed to hit the front bump stops, but just barely, no crash, and it went up and over front and back, and immediately settled and off I went.

Bilstein messaged me and said they were the right size for that lift so I'm good to go. Can't wait to install on Saturday.

I can add a bit to the “how do they offroad?”

I have had the 5100s for over a year now and I have been offroad more in this setup than any other. I fInd the shocks to be very compliant in the slow rockier portions. Coming off of ledges or a rock it feels more planted and there is no head bobbing like with the stock Fox shocks with the sway bar disconnected. I’m sure there are some more scientific terms and jargon I could use, but from the driver’s seat and more importantly the passengers notice the change in performance for the better.

5100s are decent middle of the road shock that has a reputation of being great for the price and very consistent from the manufacturer (from what I’ve read). They are a popular choice for Tacomas, frontiers, 4Runners, amd tundras. Plus easy to find if you need a replacement.

So nobody has mentioned the 5160 shocks. ?? If the 5100’s is just the next level upgrade to the fox 2.0, why not pay just a tiny bit more for the 5160 resivour shock?
In Canada, the TDot site has theses 5160’s for $405 Canadian each and a 5% coupon to boot.

I actually debated this a bit and landed with not getting them for two reasons.

1- I don’t know enough of how they work and behave on road since thats %99 of my driving

2- ive seen a couple posts talk about having to figure out how to make them fit. And i didnt want to do any wheel well modifications

And now having the 5100s, it makes e wonder if theyd be too stiff or behave differently.

I thought about ordering them awhile back. This guy in the video breaks down some differences. I think the main difference is just travel increase in the 5160s

I had the custom valved Carli Bilstein 7100 remote reservoir shocks on my Power Wagon. After 3 years, the bushings in the end of the shocks started to go bad. After 4 years, the shocks started to blow the seals out on the shafts. They rode great until they started to go bad. Ended up with custom valved King shocks.

I'm looking for shocks now before I install my lift. And these 5100's have crossed my radar.

Watched the video above. Thanks DailyMoparGuy, I think that helped a lot and I’m going for the 5100’s too. I don’t off-road enough and I think the small amount I do, the 5100’s would perform good enough.

The ride of these fox 2.0’s are just horrible in the city over the bumps and dips and the wife has absolutely hated them. The 5100’s are a great price and the reviews here and around are convincing enough to try them out.

All 4 of my 5100s were $339 USD. Cheap.
