I don't see any changes coming to the JT lineup until they are ready to offer the hybrid option.
I told my wife I was keeping this one for a while - but after driving her 4xe JLU - all bets are off if they offer a JT with that option. Man, killer torque and zip. And quiet. Love getting over 20 mpg without even trying - and in the winter, no less.

Gladiator sales for 2022 were off 13% 2022 vs. 2021. The whole Jeep brand was off 12%.
That said, there were nearly 78,000 JTs sold in 2022, more than 10% of total Jeep
sales.

Guess we’ll have to wait and see 1st Q 2023 sales numbers.

The original targets prior to release were stated to be 73k ish in volume. It’s doing fine. While we love them- they’ve priced them to a point where the nearer competitive market place undercuts it significantly. Look for rebates and I teret rate deals and vroom! Sales will likely be just fine

Ben was a car salesman so he isnt really some random clown
I was a car salesman. Long enough to know that 98+% of car salesmen are clowns with ZERO product knowledge. I know more about cars outside segments I'm interested in that i've never driven than the jackoffs selling them. Anyone who has a rough idea what features they expect a random car they've never seen in person before might have but has a good idea what buttons and symbols might mean knows more about cars than the average or even above average car salesman. It's a laughable profession reinforced by ownership more interested in saving every nickel over hiring qualified candidates and paying them for their knowledge. (that's our fault as customers too btw. customers don't like smart car salesmen. They want to feel in charge of the transaction and would rather be charmed or bullied into a buy than informed into it.)

I currently and for the past 15 years import commodity food and the warehouse i bring stuff into has more stringent requirements for forklift drivers and case pickers than any dealership I've ever worked at has for salespeople or mechanics.

There were only 2 of us in my town back in the fall of 2019. Today, my small section of the neighborhood alone has at least 11 Gladiators that I’m aware of. I drive by the local dealer every day. Whenever a new batch of 5-6 JT’s arrive on the lot, within 2 weeks they’re gone. Mostly local sales I’ve been told. Yeah true, I’m only seeing what’s in my back yard but factor in the hard hits caused by the mayhem, economic turmoil and manufacturing constraints, hell I’m stoked in thinking Jeep will keep the JT in its lineup for a long time.. else we become a rad cult!

You just listed 3 trucks that either have over 300 hp or will have over 300 hp this year. And the Gladiator will be dogging behind.
Jeep needs to add power , it's what people want regardless of what is posted on here .
Ranger is 270, and no power figures are up for the next gen. Tacoma is 278, and no power figures are up for the next gen. Colorado/Canyon ranges 237 to 310. Frontier is at 310. The V6 Gladiator floats in at 285, which is not class leading, but is in the same ball park. If you think power is what makes a truck, much less a Jeep, you've got the wrong idea. Jeeps have been known to be slow since the first ones rolled off the lines in the 40s.

I see gladiators all the time on the road and it makes me smile. I don't think the gladiator will be in the chop block anytime too soon because the car market in general has fallen due to inflation, epa, fuel costs ect.

As for power, I can't speak on the 3.6 because I have thr 3.0 and the power is great. If the hurricane is to replace the 3.0 and 3.6 it will be a beast... Well on paper it seems like a beast

There were roughly 28,000 CJ8, which were basically a stretched CJ7. Of those 28k, roughly 5000 were Scramblers. Both were made from 81-85 with 86s being leftover 85 units. The Scrambler was a CJ8 with a half cab with a bulkhead to create a pickup style bed. Basically the Scrambler was a "trim" package for the CJ8.
CJ7 wheelbase was 93.5
CJ8 wheelbase was 103
CJ8 body was stretched 24inches over a CJ7.

CJ8 is to a CJ7, just like a CJ6 is to a CJ5, or like an LJ (TJ Unlimited) is to a TJ.

Safety standards killed off the Jeep CJs, that's the biggest reason we ended up with the YJ in 87. The CJs were proven to be too easy to roll for the general population to drive. In the 80s they were trying to sell the CJ to the general masses and not make it a niche type vehicle.

Disagree on the power. My JT tows my trailer as well as my Chevy did - and gets better mpg. He must be driving something that needs some work. I can not only pull 5,000 pounds on the hills of I80 in the east half of our state - I can accelerate up the hills if needed.

I guess you don't understand what the future of the "hemi" is (old old tech, nothing more than a name these days) or about CAFE rules and keeping viable in today's world of rules and laws and EPA requirements and so on.
Give it up - the hemi is nice for those who believe they NEED that power, but why? Seriously. It's a want, not a need. If you NEED more power, buy a BIGGER truck. These were never to compete with an LS equipped full-size Silverado or a big Ford.
Do you need that engine, or simply want it?
There's a list of reasons these don't have a 'hemi' in them.

(be careful - saying "was a car salesman" so isn't some random clown will get a few laughs out here. Most actually are.)

Sorry, that's one of those things that makes me "smile".
Yeah, sure.
What for? Why?
Something to prove? Can't it get up to 90 fast enough for you?
I've never had a time when I felt like it needed more power - and I haul and tow and have been around with these things.

(and I drive one of these things - so I know power)

Apparently a lot of folks will disagree with you as there's a whole lot of Jeeps with the 3.6 and 2.0 out there.
It just seems to be a few who need power for some reason - even though all they do is drive it without working it with a load.
The JT basically is the same thing. People don't NEED the JT but they WANT it ?

If the JT only came with the 3.6 I wouldn't be driving one. Not sure why anyone would settle for "adequate" especially at the price point if these rigs. You can make any excuse you want why you don't need that extra power but they're just obvious excuses lol

Video is garbage clickbait like 98% of YouTube, don’t waste your time. Saying car salesman = credibility is a laugh, and YouTube is full of clowns doing car reviews from their iPhones.

JT sales are off almost the exact same amount as the entire industry comparing 2021 and 2022, definitely no reason for panic. While I don’t love the V6, I drove the competitors before buying my Mojave and felt the V6 is comparable, though definitely not a standout. I think the powertrain would benefit from an upgrade, but they better not cancel the manual transmission!

I would have never bought a Jeep if they did not offer a truck! I wanted a truck, not necessarily a Jeep. It was the best choice for my needs and bucket list. That being said, best vehicle I've ever had, and most fun to drive. No problems after almost 2 years. For my house and yard work needs, the engine is awesome and powerful!

Me too, despite being into Jeeps for years, I was in the middle of test driving all the normal full-size trucks before a JT caught my eye.

At the end of the day, the population today is different than it was in the CJ8 days. Just look at the old advertisements, the old chevy pulling a 48 disc plow, the old ford hooked up to the car hauler, ect.... Advertisements were different for trucks back then because people didn't see trucks as a "luxury"" vehicle, it was 100% work. Consumers today are different, the urban man doesn't need 1-ton power, he wants something that looks cool, can work basic "Around the House" duties and have a little fun on the weekend.

That fact that the JT isn't as capable offroad as the JL I don't think it hurting it too much, the real offroad community is a pretty small niche, and a JT will do everything a JL will for 98% of the people that offroad, ride service roads and hit mud holes. Most these folks couldn't properly explain what ground clearance and wheelbase is to know that's where the JT struggles. Fact is it's "Good Enough" for the masses.

Not too worried about it, I feel like I see more and more of them on the road. Especially if any of you are ever on a military base. Although I wouldn't be upset if they try out the new Hurricane in the JT whenever it gets refreshed.

I watch Ben’s videos from time to time and I think he more or less has to use the clickbait titles in order for YouTube to surface his videos to others. Not defending that, but the video itself has to do with how he thinks the JT needs more engine options.

A bunch of ‘22s sitting on the lot in Utah? Meh, they’re probably all missing things like the 120V outlet in the rear seat due to supply chain issues.

I don’t think this spells doom and gloom for the JT at all given the overall industry trends. I also personally don’t mind the Pentastar in mine, although I have a manual transmission. Not trying to say that there’s no room for further improvement or that the Pentastar is perfect, but it’s not like I’m contemplating getting rid of the Gladiator due to the engine option I chose.

Jeep needs to offer an Xtreme Recon package for the Gladiator. Honestly most of the parts are the same as a Wrangler.... So what is the hold up?

Not offering a V8 in one is also a missed opportunity, especially since the same company put a V8 in a Dakota 30 years ago
