So I have a appointment for the dealer to look at my stop/start warning I am getting which has disabled the system. I am guessing it's related to AUX battery going bad.
I wanted to find out if the dealers give people a hard time about AUX battery not working if you have accessories installed. I have a winch that has a switch to cut it off from battery. It's been off since the day I have installed it. I have RSE sliders that have the switch to turn it off and I also have Falcon ADAPT shocks. My truck is still under warranty.

Why does everyone assume "aux batter going bad" when ESS doesn't work?
Stop believing all the bunk you see out there please.

It could be either battery, or NEITHER battery!
Do you get a message in the cluster when you scroll down to the auto stop/start display in the cluster?
If a battery is low, it will say "battery charging".
If you have an error, it may well be something else going on.

Have you used a meter to measure the battery voltage while the truck is sitting turned off?

Do you drive it daily or does it sit a lot?
When you drive it, is it for more than 30 minutes at a time?
If it sits, or if you don't drive it more than 20-30 minutes at a time - the batteries (BOTH) are probably low.

I've seen people say that the RSE steps still draw power even when turned off. some say it doesn't, some have said theirs still drained the battery when it sat even with the switch off. They say that only disables the steps coming down - not disconnect them from the battery.

Betcha it's the AUX battery.
Dealer will likely replace both since you're under warranty.
The dealer has a specific process to follow and has to show failure and get approval before replacing a battery under warranty. If they don't, the dealership doesn't get paid for the batteries they replace.

So my truck sat for couple of weeks about 4 months ago. I had to jump start it and it was working fine after that, I purchased a Noco battery charger which the truck is hooked up to 24/7 when it's not being used (it's not my daily driver).

I havent connected a meter to it so I am not sure if the aux batter is bad or not. I assume it's the case. The only error message I get is the A logo which says (service stop/start System)

I wasnt sure if they would try to automatically deny my warranty (if it's the battery) just because I have these additional accessories installed.

Didn't go to the dealer for my leaky rear window and I sure as chit won't for battery failure. Even with my factory warranty.

Jeep is really winning here by sucking.

I can't be the martyr who 'doesn't let them get away with this'. My sanity is more important. There are 0 good Jeep dealers in SoCal coastal.

Sadly, it's very much at the discretion of the dealer. If they say that you DQ'd yourself with the accessories then that's what you get.

See the above post from a wise owner.
Fight them on the big stuff, like engines, transmissions, and axles, but a few hundred dollars for better batteries that'll last longer and perform better? Just do it and live your life.

Numerous threads on here on how to either upgrade the entire setup with the Genesis dual battery system or how to revert to a single battery and never see the ESS light again.

This.

If your engine or trans fails....tooth and nail for warranty.

Replace chit batteries with chit batteries? Nah.

A couple months ago I was getting the ESS message "ESS not ready have serviced soon" or something on this order. Made appointment and went to the dealership for service. Dealership checked it out found both batteries low and a bad relay. Dealer changed both batteries replaced a relay and all is good. I was expecting the dealer to point to my add on equipment (winch, aux switches, lighting) as the problem. Not a word was said about my add on equipment. The Dealer, Redlands Jeep, checked for the problem, changed the batteries and made repair all within a couple hours then gave me back my keys and asked if there was anything else I needed. Can only hope future dealership experiences go as well.

So to directly answer your question, your dealer MAY balk at your additional connections when checking the battery. When I took mine in about a year ago, they called me back to the service bay and questioned the installation of my winch. Specifically, they said the way the positive cable was connected prevented them from inspecting the battery charging capability. Additionally, they said the connections weren't torqued properly. I asked them to show me and it was literally the fact that they stated the positive winch cable had to be put on the post first, not on top of the battery connection and torqued to 7 in/lbs. So, they refused to even check my problem. I took the jeep home, switched the connections, torqued them, and took it back. 4 hours later, they said they checked it and everything was fine. Big surprise there! The problem has existed now (off and on) for 2 years, but it started acting up again the other day ("ESS not ready"). I keep it on a battery tender constantly, but it appears that when they go, they go. I'm now out of warranty and going to have some out-of-pocket battery expenses upcoming. Good luck.
