What additive most people using to protect the CP4 pump and lubricate it better?
I lost one pump in my 22 JTRD and want to protect my 21 JLURD and 23 JTRD

Currently using Hotshot Everyday treatment...

I use Lucas Oil Upper Cylinder Lubricant in all my diesels including my Rubicon plus 2 tractors, a Ranger and a zero turn. No issues.

Another vote for Hotshots EDT, it won’t hurt and even with a super shot, the bottle should last quite a while. At $17ish at Walmart it’s not breaking the bank.

The only ones that really concern us is the ones with CP4 pumps.... hopefully your tractors and Ranger have a CP3 or other

Agree…I’m on the cp4 recall waiting list like everyone else…just have had good luck with Lucas in my other diesels.

I’d like to see some additional demographics on the CP4 failures.

For example, total by month of year, geographic location and if you were on a winter or Summer blend of fuel at the time.

Maybe I’ll create a thread on this…

I know it’s not on topic for the thread, but for what it’s worth, I remember reading somewhere in this forum that people seem to have the most luck with avoiding pump failures by never letting their diesel gladiators go below a quarter tank. ?‍♂

As far as additives in general, I like basically everything fuel ox makes. I’ve been using their fuel additive for probably the last 50,000 miles or so. Not too long ago I had my dealership switch my spark plugs and clean my fuel injectors. The service rep said the fuel injectors didn’t really need any attention and actually were curious what I was using or if I had done the cleaning myself

I use hot shot EDT. I noticed recently that it looks lighter in color. I wonder if they changed up the formula

I ran EDT+Winter from the 1st tank when I picked mine up in January until the overnight temps were out of the low 20s. Since then I've been running LX4, 2oz every fill up. My understanding is LX4 is the component of EDT that improves lubricity.

I'm usually closer to 1/8th tank when I refuel, and I'm only at 3300 miles so time will tell...

I don't have Diesel JT but I do have an '05 Dodge Ram Cummins with the CP3 pump. I am the original owner and very early on (somewhere around 10K miles), the CP3 pump bit the dust. Apparently, it was quite common with this new CP3 pump combined with low Sulphur fuel. Based on everything I read back then, the choice of fuel additives amongst the Ram Cummins crowd was Power Service Diesel Kleen +Cetane Boost. I have put some in every tank since '05 and now I have about 120K miles with zero issues with fuel system - pumps and injectors. I have no idea if Diesel Kleen will address the issues with the CP4 pump, but it might be worth looking at and it is widely available at retail locations.

Same here with Hot Shots EDT.

On a side note. I've the P0192 code twice now. First time was in March. The second time was last week. I cleared it with my iDash gauge both times. Never noticed any changes in how the JT runs. Just wondering if this is related to the fuel pump or the Banks Derringer.

P0192 is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) for "Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Input"

I just purchased a new airflow sensor for my JTRD. I messed up the original with too much oil on the filter while cleaning. Anyway the dealer mentioned that a “low pressure fuel rail code”is usually thrown when the airflow sensor goes out.

I have a 100 gallon tank that I use to fill my JL and JT both with diesels. When I fill it I add the 100 gallon dose of Power Service Diesel Kleen AND add 4 oz of Amsoil Diesel Treatment per each jeep tank at time of their fill up. Gladiator is under construction and only has 2,400 miles but the JLRUD is at 60K without a problem. Both are under recall for pumps. May be a bit overkill but I am going to continue this program.
The folks running the 6.7 Ford diesels are big fans of Opti-lube XL Xtreme which I am leaning towards as well.
