12 surgeries. Bunch of broken bones. Right hip replaced at the age of 47. Gun shot in the back. For a while, I thought that my ortho surgeon was my PCP. Wake up every morning looking for a tag on my big toe. If it ain't there. Then it's a great day.

Yup its rough. From 1 GSW to another (with Federal #2 steel shot still in my right lower leg), I wake up and can tell what the temp and humidity is gonna be for the day and if its gonna snow or rain . Reminds me of Reg from the great outdoors who got struck 66 times in the head by lightening. If you see him running for for home, you better take cover!!!

All the 20'somethings at work dont understand this. They're constantly complaining about not having enough money (valid point), or not getting to go to some concert, or having to split wood for next winter - man I wish I could split wood again.....

What they fail to understand though is life is short, no sense in complaining about things you can't change - enjoy the things you can now, because some day they won't be able to. Thats my push for the gladiator build and RTT. Can't backpack anymore, or hardly hike. So gotta improvise and overcome. Only other alternative is bitter depression lol.

Make the best of your lemons as some say.

Things like houses being unaffordable and the idea of children being even more crippling so you are settling for going to concerts and enjoying coffee? ? Times have changed, but I agree that enjoying what you have when you have it is part of life’s joy.
