Lol it does suck getting old but at least we made it this far!
60 years old and glad I could still install my lift on the garage floor.
Paid for that the next day for sure.
I'm leveling my lawn this weekend with a yard of soil/sand mix. I got quotes for $1500.00 but I'm too cheap to pay someone to spread $60.00 worth of dirt. Plus I get to use the Gladiator as a truck. My back already hurts thinking about it.

Not as old as some here but not a spring chicken anymore currently at 56 years of age.

Past few years of rolling around on the ground doing suspension swaps and changes like 2-3 times on each vehicle has gotten a bit tiresome. My knees are the weak point now that I feel on a daily basis.

Mentally, I still think I am 25. If anything I learned from my Grandfather who live into his 80's is that a body in motion tends to stay that way. Flop on the couch or easy chair recliner and just vegetate all day watching ball games or the like is a easy way to a early death.

Age is a state of mind! There are days I feel like I can do anything and then there are days I feel like staying in bed and not getting up. But hey any day this side of the dirt is a good day I get to enjoy with my family and the jeep.

Better to grow old than not, lost too many friends at a younger age. Wifey has had back surgery, shoulder surgery , both hips and now knee issues . I call her Lindsay Wagner . Us oldies know who that is. shes borderline terminator . Still won’t stay still. As for me, I love driving and playing COD ! Occasional wrenching on everyone else’s cars and home repairs. But it has caught up to me. Hernia and bad knuckles have limited my abilities. sucks to get “older” , but I’ll take it . And whatever it brings .

OP, OverLord, you are right The secret to not getting old is don’t stop, just keep moving, chugging along, even if your memory fails just keep going , even if you swap only half your tires on that sweet looking Glady, get in and get moving my friend. Every year I have a new Motto, last year was “65 and still alive” this year it is “ 66 and still hot for chics”, have a whole year to figure out what rhymes with 67 other then heaven!…..Jack

As mentioned somewhere in an above post , the hardest part of an oil change , suspension work is now literally lifting myself off the cold concrete.

I have this really large moving blanket quilted thing that is pretty slick material, I lay it out on driveway, drive vehicle on it , lay out my tools on towels so I can pull them to me while laying down, but there is always the one I leave in the garage that slows the whole process

Today, round II. Hands are sore, and making all kinds of noises. Lower back right side tweaked sumthin. Overall, not too bad.

A lil spooked about today. Being an olde fart, playing with the electrics on these newfangled thingamahoolies is always intimidating.

Putting a harness in in the left wheel that will power some accessory lights. Hopefully plug and play.

Concerned about swapping the ESS battery, read some horror stories on here.

Afraid to change a battery? How many have I changed in this life time?

As I've gotten older, two things take more time.

First:

Where did I just put that !@#$%^ ________________ (Fill in the blank with the tool or hardware or part of your choice.)

Third:

Or, did I torque that already? Butter go check.

They say memory is the second thing to go.

Sadly .................

I don't remember what the first thing was.

DANG!

I tell folks all the time "Getting old is a young man's game!"

This thread reaffirms one of my major life decisions. My philosophy is that life has three stages:

The Go-Go Stage
The Slow-Go Stage, and
The No-Go Stage

I had to make some tough decisions to retire at 56. After spending a week in the ICU with a sub-massive saddle pulmonary embolism and being told there was a 70+% chance that I wouldn't survive it. I realized that I wanted to do as much Go-Go as I could before I had to Slow or No-Go.

Like someone else has already said, in my head I feel 25, but this old body doesn't always remember that and betrays me at times. But I will continue to Go-Go because I'm no quitter! LOL

I turned 70 last November. It was the first "milestone" birthday that got my attention. I've had a lifetime of do-it-yourself activity and I still like to do it myself. Only thing is I don't do nearly so much in a day as I used too.

65 here and seems I'm in good company! Blessed to be in good health except Arthur (Arther-ritis) has shown up everywhere. We do things ourselves because we will ourselves to do it rather than giving in to the aches and pains of lives well-lived. Things take longer to complete, but we enjoy them as much as ever, and just thinking we can soldier-on is 90% of success. Forgot where I was going with this so I'll just drink my prune juice and go lay down. Zzzzzzzzzzz
