I am about to be new to the mojave line, all my other JL's and JT are rubicons, but getting ready to trade our JLUR in on a mojave.
Question is, are the shocks worth keeping with plans on lifting and using extensions? The truck will be for my son, so will be 99.9% on road, and I'm sure the occasional light off road adventure. I will most likely go with a metalcloak 2.5, possibly 3.5, and likely 38" nitto trail grapplers.
Would appreciate some feedback and if anyone is running a similar lift with oem fox 2.5's. Thanks.

Watching.......Just put BFG KO 35's on my Mojave, no issues, but want a moderate lift, 2.5". My plan is to start out with a Clayton 2.5" Ride Right, using my existing FOX shocks w/extensions. Eventually I will build up from there.

Looked at Clayton as well, very nice set up. I have metal cloak 3.5 on our 392 and pretty happy with it. For this truck, it will be for my son in hs, so essentially just driving to school and football. Comparing the price of the clayton vs MC, the mc will meet our needs. Noticed they also offer a shock relocation specifically for mojave.

I need to look into MC as well. Heard nothing but good things about them too.

FYI, Here's one of the few running MC. He has a nice build thread as well. I'm sure he has some feedback on his set-up. FYI, I will be going to a MC lift as well when time allows. Ran the 3.5 GC on my '17 JKUR and loved it. (https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/showcase/black-2020-jeep-gladiator-mojave-build.611/)

On my Mojave, I started out with an 2" AEV lift (approx $600) and BFG KM3 35's. The truck drives REALLY nice with this combo. I have change to larger tires since, but I highly recommend the 35's and AEV lift.

Some will argue about the Mojave's shocks really good and the opposite. Drive one for yourself and decide. Personally I believe the Mojave has a great ride! If you agree, there's really minimum to do to the truck since it's mostly going to be an over the road daily driver.

From what I understand, the Mojave shocks need to be rebuilt around 50k miles. Im not sure of the cost, but factor that in to the life of your vehicle

i put a 2" AEV lift (and some Baja Boss 37s) on my Mojave in the first 2k miles. Once I hit 50k mark, ill re-evaluate decide if I want to stick with the OEM shocks and rebuild, or upgrade to something with more adjustability. But i wanted to see if the Mojave hype was real (it isnt)

coming from the Falcon 3.3 Adjustable shocks on my JK (i can't say enough good things about them) I did notice a decrease in ride quality in the Mojave, so most likely i will go with a full 2.5-3" lift when the time comes

Having the ability to adjust to a different setting for highway/street/offroad is great, but since you think 99% will be on road, im sure the factory shocks will serve you well

just food for thought

I guess if $$$ is no object then do what you want but the factory suspension is the main reason I bought the Mojave and I wouldn't want to change it. If I was planning on major mods, the Rubicon would have been better money spent.

Haha, "Mojave Hype"- WHY would you ever buy a Mojave if you didn't value the way the truck was set up from the factory?- doesn't make sense at all. Didn't you test drive one before you bought it to figure that out??? The ride from a Mojave vs other JT's is subjective to the driver on road, but do NOT tell me the Mojave is "hype" over a Rubicon JT driving fast in the desert.

If you purchased a Mojave to mainly rock crawl, well then thats on you but dont blame the truck if you're not using it for the right purpose.

You are comparing Falcon 3.3's to the stock Fox shocks on the Mojave, which is apples to oranges. We are NOT comparing what you can add aftermarket, just stock to stock - so your comment about decrease in performance may be true, but does NOT apply in a stock truck since none of them come with Falcon 3.3's. If you think that Falcon 3.3's are the best option with performance and adjustability (not arguing this point) then it would have been smarter to buy a Rubicon JT and change the 3.3's.

I wholeheartedly agree with the Rubicon vs Mojave statement, hence my other jeeps are rubicons. JLUR, JTR on 39's, and our 392 with 3.5 MC and 37's.
Long story short, we bought the 2018 JLUR new in 2018, knowing we would give it to our son when he started driving. That time has come, the JLUR is fully built, nothing left to do to it, BUT, over the last 2 mos it has been a garage ornament due to all the electrical issues I am having with it. Dealer will not help bc warranty is up, which I don't care about, I will pay out of pocket, but the jeep has been modded, pcm calibrated for tires and 513 gears, and they refuse to help with out doing it "thier" way, which is start throwing parts at it a hope something sticks.
I have isolated most of the elec issues, and corrected those, but I fix one thing, and another comes up. As of now, knock on wood, the Jeep operates normally, with only the ESS unoperable.

I have mostly demodded the JLUR, and going to trade it in. Funny the Falcon 3.3 comment, I have taken the Falcon 3.2's off, along with steel bumper, winch, aftermarket lights, etc.

Reason I am asking about a mojave specifically (again, agree with the rubicon debate), is there is one local, the color we want, 15k miles, already has some decent little things done. So it's a matter of timing and logistics. If there was a JTR that fit what we wanted near by, that would absolutely the be route I'd go.

I will echo this idea. I drive a lot of road miles and some dual track / gravel when I can / need to do so. The AEV with geo brackets is a great combination. I’m running the AEV Borah w KO2’s in the 315 / 70 / 17. Works like a champ. I’ve managed to put about 23k miles on in a year. Tires wear great. Good road manners and relatively quiet.

On a side note I’d hesitate to put my teen son driver in anything super tall. It’s a recipe for ā€˜watch this’ moments.

He’s been driving my Superduty for the past 3 mos, so will be fine.
