No, he wasn't. It was already being rolled out when his accident happened. He was just the high-profile incident and it sparked a lawsuit over how Jeep was rolling out the AutoPark recall, not that they needed to develop it. It was already a thing.Yep..that literally the catalyst for the 'feature' being introduced!
The actual catalyst was the stupid rotary shift knobs Jeep put in their SUVs that made it difficult for people to know whether or not they were in park.
