Then I guess this will be the last JT I ever buy. Don't want Rubicon, Sport doesn't come with all of the stuff we want. There won't be anything equipped how we want it.
Here I was interested to see what a 4xe JT might be like. There goes that.
I'm afraid that may leave out a few who want it as a small truck, daily driver, and not lifted and equipped for rocks and sand.

What can you not get option wise from a lower trim?
Unless they've changed things, you get the smaller tires, the wheels I can't stand (no offense, Sport owners! Just my opinion), leather dash and handles and a few other odds and ends that when I ordered, were not available in the Sport level.
You couldn't even get a body color roof and fenders with a Sport.. At least the build site doesn't allow or even show body color roof and fenders. There's a huge negative there.
I can't add leather to the sport.

If you could equip a Sport like the Overland then it would be an Overland, not a sport.
Overland was perfect balance of price with all of the options we wanted and nothing we didn't want.

I just tried - can't get leather dash, leather seats, BODY COLOR roof and fender flares, none of that.

I should have waited and bought a 2023 since they are discontinuing the only one with the options my wife and I wanted.

The new Sport wheels on the JL look similar to Overland wheels. Maybe will be the same for the Gladiator.

The 24's all have the nicer wheel options (no straight silver) though you would have to step down to 17's like you mentioned. Could potentially swap them on delivery or buy takeoffs and I'm sure you can upgrade to 255's through Jeep.

I'd hold off on any judgements till you see what is being offered. (Suppose you could look through the options list to jump on that if you don't mind picking out from a PDF.) The only thing that would be hard is that leather trim which I get. Otherwise you could get probably pretty close. What you'll notice and most do is that trims are simply a way to get a discount on what you could typically do to a lower model with options.

I'd keep my existing wheels first. Prefer the 18s as IMO the looks are cleaner, better, plus I don't like looking like I'm on balloons if I go slightly larger tires. The scale is just wrong for a truck that's a driver. Again, just me.
Body color roof/fenders is a must - my wife refused to even look at anything that wasn't all body color. In fact, she said a firm NO to several JLUs I had picked out to look at - first question was normally "does it have a black roof?"

I can see they are trying to save money by cutting out a model, but comparing ride, comfort, appearance, and the leather, only Overland matched everything. So they'll have to make one of the others ride and handle as well. (also my wife says no to Mojave because of the hood and the height)
Rubicon rides too harsh in the JT, IMO.

I'll make this Overland last forever. Jeep you may have lost a future trade! LOL

Probably referring to Mojave X and Rubicon X.
Ah, then not interested.
I'm thinking they'll be leaving out those who want a small truck in favor of the off-roading (which is not how most Jeeps get used)

Kind of wondering how a Mojave X and Rubicon X are more trim levels - they are still Mojave and still Rubicon. That's the trim level.

Did more digging - those two X levels are considered the new trim levels.
That means that These will be priced so far our of our range a new JT won't even be a consideration for us in the future. To get what we'd want, it would have to be Rubicon X or Mojave X and just the Rubicon and Mojave were above our price range, and not at all what we wanted in a truck. They are indeed taking these further into the off-road area and less into the small truck market.
No full-float rear axle which is a surprise since Wrangler has that in the top of the line.
Sounds like only the 3.6 by this quote - or any of its powertrain options past the standard 3.6-liter V6 engine
NAV will be optional on the upper trim levels but sounds like they'll all support wireless car play, android auto.
The way I read it, power seats only in the X versions - WOW, gotta spend the big bucks, 70K plus for that while power seats are standard in all Grand Cherokees.
That makes sense - it's a Jeep, but is really disappointing to see that someone who wants one as a small truck daily driver, in the midwest and not for rocks or sand won't have any options with the demise of the Overland.
I'd better take good care of this one!

Overland owner and fan as it is also my favorite trim. Sucks to see it go.

I understand they basically equipped some more standard options in the lower trims like the Sport that weren't standard before. I guess that's cool for some of the people who prefer a basic trim. But still isn't everything my overland has now (minus the new 2024 specific features). Overland trim is far from a basic trim. It's mid level for a reason and for some people like myself, better than the perceived "mid level". But I got my Overland for it being an Overland. I didn't settle for it. I preferred it. There literally isn't an option or feature I don't have.

Much rather have my fully loaded Overland than say a Rubicon with cloth seats, plastic fenders etc (current models I'm speaking on).

Maybe mine will become a collectors item. It was one of the first the dealer received. Production was started on 3/28/2019. It came with almost every option available. I was going to trade for a 2022, but the dealer wasn't very cooperative. I decided to keep it and upgraded the Extended Warranty. I guess now I'll be keeping it for a long time.

Exactly.
Those who want what we now have will pay through the nose - being forced into the more expensive levels with stuff we really don't care about or even want, that will never be used.
Others will have to settle for less than what we now have.
