Most people get rid of their vehicles because something is wrong will it.
I’m not sure that’s true. A lot of people sell their vehicles because they want something new. I sold my TJ because we were having a baby and my wife told me to. ?

But I actually represent a sample of just what you asserted! I sold my 13’ 10th Anniversary Rubicon (grey trash can color with red leather) because it was a lemon. I’m convinced it had the sand casting block issues. But I was absolutely up front with the buyer about this and that I believed it had this issue. He appreciated my candor, but was more concerned with whether I had cats in it (seriously) or I that I smoked in it.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with selling a vehicle that’s got problems. A lot of buyers don’t care. Heck I’ve sold bald 33 inch tires to people. The issue to me is when you don’t disclose the issue. I would tell the dealership what I found. Then it’s their responsibility to tell future buyers.

Somehow I’m bouncing between ecodiesel recall threads….
I just saw on the Googlewebs that there are apparently 7 pending class action lawsuits concerning the CP4 pump. 3 are against Stellantis. There’s also ones against GM and Ford. The earliest ones go to trial in February. The basic thrust of these lawsuits is that the automakers knew that the CP4 pump had design problems but spec’d them anyway. These should pretty easy to prove or not through discovery. This may be part of the reason for the delay.

Totally fair.

I did cut the filter open (a few days ago, it’s now in the trash), there was no way an ounce, it looked like I had sprinkled glitter on it, but no way an ounce.

Funny, my wife always yells at me when it comes time to selling cars. I will sit there and tell them, yes this is an amazing car, but then proceeded to tell them every little detail Nick and scratch that is on the paint as well as any potential issues that may be coming up due to time and mileage. She tells me I am crazy for doing that (because in the past, I’ve been known to buy the best fluids, filters and upgrades for my vehicles, but only have two pairs of jeans for work so she knows I don’t own or drive junk cars), I tell her I would much rather lose a couple bucks than leave someone stranded who can’t afford to be there. Thankfully, I am in a decent place financially where I could replace this jeep, maybe not with the nicest vehicle anymore or one with all the gadgets that I have put on this one if a buy back happens, but I will live. When I usually sell my vehicles. I am selling them near the bottom of the market, to either kids or families who don’t have much , so I understand your ethical dilemma as well if I were to sell my truck to a dealership it would be now as to avoid trouble down the line and the insecurity, if I were in the same boat as OP I likely wouldn’t be able to trade it in either.

Is the truck not under warranty? Sorry to hear that
All these diesels are if they are within 5yr/100k miles. Except Canada gets shafted I think.

The pictures you’ve shown are debris outside of your filter, which means it’s coming from the tank end, not the pump end. Pump debris would only be INSIDE your filter element.

What about the recirculate from the pump.

No they can't long as you follow the manual and document the interval.

The cp4 issues stopped me from trading in on a diesel in early 2022. If I had Id be spending the 1k bucks to get a cpx pump instead once my warranty was up.

The manual called for a fuel filter replacement every other oil change or 20k miles. I saved the empty Mopar box for record.

I could have sworn it was 10,000, but that is just to drain the water. I couldn't help but notice Stellantis calling out a number of states (11 to be exact) for dirty fuel and needing to replace the filter more often on page 391 of the 2022 manual:

Wondering what data were collected for them to came up with that determination.
