Jeep Gladiator value in the toilet

I honestly don’t see this or get the concern. I have a diesel Willys gladiator. It was $52K. I don’t see a major drop in pieces and I don’t feel I paid an inflated price. I don’t believe the value is in the toilet at all. A simple economy car is $30K now. Ford and Chevy small pickups are that expensive and more. A 1/2 ton is even more now. I just don’t see this as being out of line with what exists across the board. Do I wish it was cheaper… of course. I wish everything was.

New 2023 = ~105 - $130k
Used 2022 = ~$65-85k

I guess it's all relative. I'm not entirely convinced prices will go back up either, shortage or not. The average Joe can't afford to buy and they certainly can't afford the interest rates. They think they can...maybe for a little bit longer.

Bought a new 2012 F150 FOR 34K, sold it in 2022 for 15k
Son Bought a new 2012 328i retractable for 70k, book value in 2022 was 6k

Values are a mess all over the place. I recently got a trade offer of 44k for my 2022 Mojave that has a 71k MSRP here in Canada, the truck has 56000km/33000miles on it.. Next dealer offers 51k yet I see them online used for 64k in my province... total poopshow.

Not as bad in Washington. Bought a 2022 Willys diesel in jan for 51K, and was looking at recent deals on 23’ diesel High Altitude. Was offered 48K trade, plus 12% off MSRP. We are running 10% not the 15% off MSRP in other zip’s.

Speaking of rates.... I looked up the Ranger Raptor here in Canada today... 81k and 8.99% financing! over 84 months that's over 30k in interest. Right fucked. I know things are broken when Toyota is offering better financing rates than Jeep in Canada!

That and if you go to the dealers actual website to look at the incentive stacking, they have both a dealership finance discount and Chrysler Credit Finance discount that really can not be stacked. Basically if you bring your own financing or paying cash, there is about $3K incentive that cannot be used.

I've been keeping a very rough record of 2023 Gladiator inventory levels over the past 50 days or so. Yes, I understand that the inventory tool on Jeep's website isn't perfect, but it probably gives a rough idea of how much inventory is available nationwide and how fast it's selling.

On average, since September 14, Gladiators have sold at a rate of c.109/day. That rate was higher when discounts were approaching 25% off MSRP in September and October, but has since cooled dramatically - only about 65/day over the past 2 weeks. At a rate of 109/day, there is close to 6 months of 2023 inventory left as the market heads into the slowest months of the year. At 65/day, inventory could last 10 months - and this is before buyers have 2024s to choose from. Ouch.

In addition to this glut of new 2023s still available, there are thousands more barely used Gladiators with 10-20k miles available on CarGurs, Cars.com, and other online sites. They're sitting for months. .

Gladiator value is in the toilet plain and simple. 58,000 sticker to 41,000 trade in (in 1 year )? That’s what happens when they inflate the prices originally and start giving 12,000 off on new ones. I didn’t pay sticker but should of held out for a better price and didn’t finance so it could of been worse. I also bought local and did well on my Chrysler 300 trade in. I believe value will come back up a little when the new prices come out if they are not a lot lower too. Bronco on the other hand still bringing in decent prices here, go figure but not inflated over MRSP. Jeep flooded the market with gladiators , now they are playing catch up. I still like my Gladiator and will keep it indefinitely but Hopefully another year they don’t loose the same amount of value especially for the people that paid sticker price and financed also.

A lot of these two year old low mileage Gladiators
were probably leased, like mine was.

They scratched their offroad poseur itch,
looked ruggedly stylish at Starbucks for two years
and then got away clean.

Moral to the story is
look for an unmolested two year old vehicle
with less than 15,000 miles
and a caffe mocha stain in the driver's seat
like mine has.
