Those are torqued down and have a lot of locktite goobered on them. I had to use an impact with an extension to get them out - but yes, you need the correct tool for the job.

Check the socket you were using. It might have cracked and spread and that let it strip the bolt head. You wouldn’t want it to ruin another bolt in the future.

It came that way from the factory, but great tip, thanks.

Cut a line with a dremel and get a punch in there and turn while you smack with a hammer
I have a hand impact screwdriver that would work for your suggestion. Problem is there is very limited space... getting a dremel in there and cutting a clean line would be challenging.
Hopefully, using the etorx I have on order will work.

Interesting ... they changed the bolt style. Mine in my 20' is standard. Definitely lock-tited ... I don't recall if these run all the way through the floor boards ... if so you might try heating from the bottom side.

Fronts are standard, rears are Etorx on my '20 Rubi.

Either way, the inside one(s) on the front are a BEACH to get the right angle on.

All 4 on my 22 JTRD are torx. They are definitely tight. In my pics, you can see all of the extra blue loc-tight. The front/closest to the console is tricky to get to... you need a small extension or if you want to get above the seat, a 10" extension. Either way, you have to come straight down on it. There is no room for coming in from an angle. Since the torx head is recessed into the seat frame, it creates a whole new set of challenges.

Because all of the above, its probably why it was rounded off on one side, looks like the factory over tightened it... someone held the impact button too long... lol

You think these are weird go look at the bolts on your driveshaft. They're strange.

Made me look. Strange, but I'm used to seeing strange looking fasteners. There is another post here just about that. It says t50 will fit. It also says it is stamped with SFT 10.9. Standard F Torx I'm guessing. ?

HF has tools that range from "one-time-use disposable garbage" to "On par with Husky or Hilty". I'm not above shopping there and just bought a Badlands Off Road jack.

HF has definitely stepped up their quality on their high-end items. I've been impressed with the Quinn line and I own several Badlands products, they are really nice, especially for the the price of what a mainstream company would charge for the same thing.

I equipped my garage tool box with SAE and Metric Quinn sockets (1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" drive). I'm impressed with the quality of these. No need to pay Snap On or even Icon prices with these for a hobbyist like myself.

There is plenty of Pittsburg stuff in my tool box as well and Harbor Freight is 2.5 miles away if I need to replace them. Also a bunch of old Craftsman too.

Don’t touch the driveshaft bolts with power tools. Patience and hand tools. If you break one, you’ll be unhappy. And the bolts are one time use, as they have a seal ring. So I’d have a set on hand before removal.

Their Icon sockets appear to be similar in quality to my Husky or Tekton stuff, and Husky uses old SnapOn tooling.
