I wasn't referring to the dealerships. That's another topic on it's own. I think dealership experience is a hit and miss and I would never judge a car brand just purely based on the dealership experience.

I was referring to the issues I have had with my truck and direct service/support I have received from Jeep customer service.
Gotcha, I understand now.

I can't relate because I've been lucky that I've never had to use direct service/support from an auto manufacturer. The dealer has always been able to take care of my issues.

Does Jeep have to get involved that often? Seems like it would be a pretty uncommon situation.

I pay $1500 a month for my two Gladiators and will for 7 years. I love it. Two years on I still love my trucks.

Yep, it's not just a truck, it's a real truck -- solid axles on both ends! My point is that the other trucks in the segment, like the Colorado and Ranger, are IFS and much "nicer" to live with (their words). But there are still plenty of people that want solid axles. Hell look at all the problems the Bronco is having. In purely stock form it CANNOT keep up with the JK or JL platform on trails. It will break stuff way too easily. Yes, there are aftermarket fixes, but that's not the point. You can buy a JK or JL in any flavor and immediately hit the trails and stuff isn't going to break on you.

IFS (and IRS) is great on sedans and sports cars, but not on trucks and real off-road-capable vehicles.

Agreed. My wife refused to consider a minivan when our kids were little even though it would have been the best choice for our needs at the time. She specifically said, "she doesn't want to be seen driving a minivan". We wound up getting her a station wagon........er, I mean an SUV ;).
My wife's last four vehicles (FJ Cruiser, Fiat 500, Colorado & Bronco Sport) all had one primary factor in her buying decision, the color yellow or some shade close to it. Had Hellayella came out as a JT color instead of that weird High Velocity, I could have convinced her to get a JT.

Her other fascination that I have had to talk her out of is convertibles and sun roofs.

Just checked prices on 2023 Mohave. Darn it people. At this discount I may be trading in. I will say prices (with discount) look reasonable. I wouldn't do a loan. When 36 month was 0% it made sense. Not today. I have no idea what % of buyers are cash but if 24% are needing a loan. That explains the sales drop. Hard to justify 6% cost of money

Thats just it, all we hear about is the "msrp is too high" and I counter with, what kind of person is buying these at msrp? At no point during covid could you not save about 13% vs msrp by going to one of the prefered dealers and ordering. Yes the MSRP is up about 5-8K depending on options, but the transaction price is up more like 2-3K which accounting for the retarded amount of inflation we had is expected.

Same thing with trade in value, if you bought it for the going transaction rate and not the dealer special MSRP +500 the trade in is above average. Sure if you compare it to the msrp of 60-65K it seems crazy, but again people are paying 50-55k for these so a trade in value 3 years later in the 40's is actually amazing value held.

The rest of the industry saw the best sales since before the pandemic, with hybrids leading the way. The hybrids in Jeep's lineup were the only thing that have increased in sales, by 124%. People want hybrids, and anyone considering one isn't going to buy an outdated gladiator when everyone has a hybrid either hitting the sales floor, or coming in the next year.

Not here in iowa.
The license fees for hybrids are stupid here, fuel prices are cheap, and truck buyers will buy gas or diesel for a while to come yet in this state.
Etorque, ok, if it can tow and haul with the same or better mpg and other ratings

I dont think electric trucks make sense yet. But I am so old it does not matter. Do 20 something think a hybrid truck makes sense?

LA has 1.5X more vehicles registered than the entire state of Iowa. You guys could only buy gas or diesel for the rest of your lives and it won't sway the national trends. Every car manufacturer will happily lose sales in Iowa to gain sales in the big markets.

"National trend" or mandate?
While what you say is true - being forced to buy is a bit different. Yes, the trend is toward hybrid, but a trend isn't yet a majority.

True, eventually pure ICE sales won't be enough to keep producing them, and you will be "forced" to buy a different powerplant if you want a new vehicle. Mandates or not, the automakers have all decided what direction they are going and invested billions, they can't afford to go back now.

Indeed. JT’s value proposition was tenuous from the start. It was priced closer to full-size pickups than to other midsize trucks.

Jeep only made matters worse by jacking up prices faster than inflation, without seriously addressing well-known battery, steering and dealer issues.

To be fair, ALL pickups are having a hard time right now. Sales of F150, Silverado, Ram 1500, even Tacoma, have slowed down significantly in recent months.

For decades, pickups used to offer the most “steel” for the money. But automakers have turned pickups into full-blown luxury vehicles.

If I were to guess, consumers have simply snapped out of their stupor.
Ford sales numbers reported today. While Ford sales are overall up, Bronco sales are down about 9% (or was it 7% - something like that). I wonder if part of the reason Jeep JL & JT and Bronco sales might be down is that every automaker has rushed into the market with an off road version of their trucks? Not just the Raptor anymore, but everyone has some version of a Raptor or off-roader trim. Many with actual off road credibility and features, some with pretender packages. But now consumers have many, many more off roady options than they had 5 years ago,
