I respect that you're trying to walk this back a bit. The thread title and your initial wall of text really painted a different picture than the one you've got now. You were initially asking everyone to help identify someone so you could ask them why they gave up on a truck. Not going to get a lot of positive responses, and that's why you got the responses you did.

For what it's worth, if a selling dealer gave a buyer my old title, I'd be right pissed off. Based on your own description, you should've never received that title at all unless you are a dealer yourself, in which case I have a lot more questions about what's going on here.

Enjoy the Jeep.

This is my worst nightmare and why I dread having to sell anything on Craigslist or Facebook. It's exhausting dealing with people that want to be best friends because we exchanged a few messages back and forth.
Or they think the $20 item they bought has a lifetime warranty and "support".

I sold a '66 Poppy Red Mustang Fastback. The guy I sold it to sold it to someone else. That someone else stalked me for TWO YEARS because he found out I had owned a number of Cobras, a couple GT40s, and a few Shelby/Hertz Mustang replicas (I REALLY like the black/gold color scheme!) and he really wanted to be friends and go to Ford shows and have coffee on the weekends and hang out.

Why do I never get stalked by the smokin' hot chick?

OK, I am always happy to talk with folks who buy my toys. I usually become friends with them and stay in touch. It's not that big a deal, if they don't want to chat, so be it. So funny how quick some people are so quick to label a friendly person as "creepy" We have become a very mean society. #Better not wave !! LOL
No need to get offended. I didn't label you "creepy." But I do find the behavior itself a bit creepy. I think there is an important distinction.

I have sold vehicles privately in the past; had no issues talking to those buyers, even months after they purchased the vehicle. But buying a vehicle from a third-party dealer and then hearing from a total stranger out of the blue is not the same thing.

When you sell a vehicle privately, with it comes the expectation that you will be meeting a number of people and shooting the shit. This expectation does not exist when you trade in a vehicle at a dealership. In fact, a key part of trading in a vehicle at a dealership is precisely not having to talk to strangers in the privacy of your home.

Yeah it was mine, sold it cause dirty mike and boys had their way with it and couldn't get the smell or the mental image out . Best of luck, it helps if you don't think about what took place. Damn removable doors and roof..........

So I bought my 2022 Sarge Green JTRD Gladiator used from a Subaru dealer in Maine with only 10,000 miles on it, but they got it at an auction in Pennsylvania, and it originally was sold by Faulkner Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Mechanicsburg PA. The couple that owned it lived in New Cumberland PA. I have the PA title, so I know their names, but I don't want to disclose that publically. I called the dealership and asked them if they knew why it was traded in, and all the guy could tell me is they traded it on another Gladiator. I'm one of those people who likes to know the history of his vehicles, and I was just hoping that maybe I could ask them a few questions to solve a couple of mysteries . I know it of course had the diesel recall, and I don't know the details of if that allowed you to trade back in for a really good deal, or what. I checked and it had no other warranty issues according to my local dealer, who BTW performed the recall on the diesel already, and geez it was so easy. I literally walked up to a service writer, asked if they had a fix for the diesel recall yet, the lady said yes, when would you like to bring it in? I said How soon can you do it, she said in 3 days, I said great, lets do it. I brought it in three days later, and they did the new injector pump, and also did some tailgate recall thing I didn't even know about. That was December6th or so, and the truck has been perfect, but it was before as well. Anyway, just can't figure out why they gave up on this one.

I will offer my perspective. I understand what your intent is and see no problem with the way you want to approach the previous owners. Posting this on a Jeep Forum might not have been the way to do it though. To many experiences as yours that went sideways.

With that said. I sold a boat on FB and the buyer had no idea what he was getting into. He would IM me every day asking questions. Simple stuff at that. I finally blocked him. Thankfully we never exchanged phone numbers. About three months later I saw him out on the lake with my old boat. He had the motor trimmed so high up I thought he was going to flip it. I just pulled my hat down low and sped on past.

Well, maybe they'll see your post and reach out. I dunno, that whole "they traded it in on another _____" line is so common among car dealers. It's safer than saying, "they ran away screaming from the POS and bought a Toyota".

Different folks, different strokes. OP seems to be pretty extroverted and wouldnt mind if he was in the original seller’s shoes and the new owner tracked him down.

On the other hand, there may be people out there, particularly women, who would be really creeped out if some random dude tracked her down. I tend to error on the side of caution and would not bother the original owner(s).

Mine told me that the previous owner decided that they wanted the 392 Wrangler instead, so they traded ours back in with only 1650 miles on it.
True? Maybe. But I bought it from the dealer because I liked it and wanted it, and I fully understood that salespeople lie to sell cars. No matter what their reasons, the previous owner has nothing to do with my ownership.
