Going by your description - we still can't say if what you claim as "damage" really is, or how bad. And you aren't helping by insisting only on your description which can be very subjective. What you see as bad and damage others may shrug off.
In the time all of these responses were typed, I'd have at least 4 or 5 very detailed pictures of the area. if YOU can see it, so can a camera.
Not so sure on that one… my eyes see is a hellova lot better than my iPhone 15 pro … eyes have an advantage of handling lighting conditions at a finer level and distance due to pupils and 2 eyes for focusing.

Anyways, here is a picture.

Yeah, that looks like hammered dog shit. Not a body shop guy, but I see no way to fix that other than replacement of that section. They may want to pull some bondo body filler repair, but I would not accept that.

Good luck. That's some hard steel and I'd almost bet no dealer wants to mess with cutting and welding a roll cage.

The shape of a structure is part of the strength..... On a phone not able to see it well, but if it's depressed far enough, could it impact integrity in an accident? Will have to look when on a larger screen

Is it all welded together? I would think it should be bolted in place not welded to the body...

Man that really sucks! At least it is prior to the paint like you said though. But I would for sure press the issue. Who knows how bad that piece of cage is compromised. To me that would be a massive liability issue. I would like to think Jeep would be jumping on that big time cause if things ever went bad you could probably sue them with a defect like that. Not that anyone wants to get in a wreck or deal with those things but just saying, I would think they would be all over getting it fixed.

Damn, someone got happy with the air hammer.

I bet they knew exactly what was happening when that mistake was made on the line, and just figured the paint would cover it up and nobody would ask any questions.

We all have a 1:5 odds of our Jeeps being Friday builds. Yours is also that 1 in 5.

Every new jeep I’ve purchased had one major flaw, this one has a couple (see first post) … usually it’s just an annoyance and fixed… done.

This has no way to repair, other than fill in the dents and paint, that’s kind of cheesy. Or they tell me to kick rocks :-/ … I guess they can always get me another jeep, but that’s kind of crazy. I know I didn’t pay all this money for a new truck to live with such sloppy QC. Let’s see what they say on Monday, I have an appointment for an oil change and to align the rear door and ask about the low MOG )I expect this to go nowhere)

As a previous owner of a problematic 2009 JK, all I can say is the age old adage, “It’s a Jeep thing!”
