Dallas TV news yesterday showed a couple of guys stealing a Jeep Wrangler from a parking lot. They smashed the back window, opened the drivers door and a guy got in and started it up and drove off. They did it in about 45 seconds. Is there something wrong with the Jeep security? Is there a better way to secure my Jeep Gladiator when I leave it in the open somewhere.

Kill switches are the only real defence. And even those can be bypassed by experts.

It sucks and no, there’s not much that will deter thieves who are determined to take your vehicle. Just make sure you never leave valuables in there, have good insurance and always lock your doors. You can try one of those anti-theft devices, but I swear, thieves are the ones who make them the way they know their way around such devices. You can try hiding multiple Apple air tags, even taped/zip tied under the Jeep.

It is a crazy world out there.

Hidden kill switch. The Dodge hot rods (Charger, Challenger) have this worked out and our Jeeps use the same circuitry. Check you tube on how.
My jeep won't start even with my key fob (which is what they clone)

Ravelco Anti Theft Device

It's not cheap. But you get what you pay for. Downside is your vehicle is now a bit more of a pain to start up (thought less of a pain than a Club i'd guess). They claim it's never been defeated once. No way to verify that though. Just remember if someone REALLY wants your vehicle you can't really stop them as no device will prevent a thief with a repo truck.

There is a security action in the Tazer. You have to enter a pin before it will start.

BUT, I don't know if that will work if they get in and erase your fobs and program a new one in. That's their latest trick.

to my knowledge it works fine regardless of fob erasure... but it doesn't work if they check the security gateway and pull it out
