You have to use teh software that comes on the CD, you can't update or it won't work. If you updated you need to uninstall the software and reinstall.

The usb drives are not memory sticks they are a software access dongle. You also need to install a driver that in on the CD to make the dongle work with the software.

I am yet to try and see if the software that came on the cd will actually work with the ECU.

Forgot to add, the different dongle numbers relate to the version of software that gets authenticated, best I can figure out
I tried the software on the CD and tired a set of software another member used successfully; both did not work. I tried both dongles in but I can’t figure out how they correspond.

Install the guardian driver program

Uninstall the pcflash program

Reinstall pcflash or what ever it's called.

Connect the lowest number version dongle you have, and open the flash software but don't upgrade.

I would be interested in the software you got from another member to see what that is about.

You on a windows pc running 10 or lower?

The dongle unlocks the software, different version dongles unlocked access different ecu packages

thanks for the help. I will try that tomorrow. Definitely windows 10 or lower. The only way you can advance with the software without updating is to do it completely off-line. If the computer connects to the internet it will make you update pcmflash.

It didn't force a update for me, I could cancel. I have version 1.20

when I decline the update it says “please use the most updated version of the software” and closes the program.

The software CD is missing from my kit. That's why I asked for someone to share the software with me. I'm assuming you missed that post.

I received mine without software or any instructions as well. I also realize that my laptop doesn’t even have a USB.

Since getting the reprogramming scanner and new PCM in the mail I made the mistake of continuing to drive the Jeep. This weekend I received the dreaded CEL with a warning that states the Jeep won’t start in 150 miles, DEF Service, see dealer. The Jeep is a 2021, with 5500 miles. It’s out of warranty. I am not looking forward to a dealer visit and the costs associated with the DEF system. I tried clearing the codes by disconnecting both batteries (negative) but it came right back.

Anyone in central Florida that might have any experience in these issues? I need to clear codes, so I can then get the ECU cloned. TIA

Here is everything you need to clone.

Go here and download the software. Before installing the Scanmatik software look at the back of your SM2 and make sure the number matches the provided software. Mine did not. If it does not match you will get an error message. If your SM2 is a different version than 2.21.21 you need to Google search "scanmatik <insert your version number here> download" and install the correct software.

Then follow the instructions posted by @Madtom - https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/attachments/jturd-ecm-backup-process-pdf.372126/

Can you post a picture of the warning? It is standard for the system to give a warning when the DEF level is low letting you know the truck won't start in X miles. Is the DEF tank full? If not fill it up and see if the warning goes away.

My DEF tank is registering at 3/4 tank. I vented the cap for a an hour and also disconnected the batteries to try a reset of the ECU.

here is a pic of the warning.

You have issue with the DEF system. You know what the CEL code is?

I don’t know what code it is. I have a OBD reader but it isn’t giving me the code(s). I’ve got a dealer appointment in the morning. Hoping for the best…

I vaguely recall reading about people having issues with the DEF level sensor or a connector or something. Hopefully that's what he's dealing with, especially with it being a '21.

The dealer had to replace the DEF sensor in the DEF tank, after not being able to clean the sensor of crystallization. Unfortunately the sensor is actually part of the tank, so they wanted to charge $2700 plus labor and tax. The jeep went over its 3 yr/36k warranty (currently 5300 miles) just 3 months ago.

I called Jeep Cares and after an initial issue, I was able to get assistance and made a claim. I’ve got to say that I’m very pleased with the outcome as they paid for the entire repair. Let’s hope there aren’t any more issues before I can get a total weight loss. I’m still trying to get a local shop to clone the ECU so I can get a stage 2 tune done.
