Those 6x6 Gladiators have been out a bit and to my knowledge, nobody that has owned one as a daily driver has ever joined here. Outside the initial shock value, they are basically worthless in any utility sense.

Nobody here has said “gee, a 6x6 Gladiator would sure come in handy here and wish I had one.”. Pure vanity piece.

It’s not just a loooonnnnggg bed. It’s a naaaaarrrroooooowww bed. All that extra wheel well leaves maybe 8-10 inches of full width in that long bed! Haha! Great minds creating great things 🙄

looks to be about an 8 foot bed.

EcoDiesels are rated at 1350 payload for sports, but we all know how payload ratings look in the real world once you've optioned out your truck. Probably came less than 1280 stock. add rubicon rockrails and front steel bumper plus rear sliders, that should be about another 120#. A new axle assembly is gonna cost about 600#. Extra tires and wheels an extra 200#. Frame extension and bed fab work maybe another 200#. (i feel like i'm lowballing the extra fab work here honestly)

Now you're down to 160# payload and you haven't even sat down in your stupid 6x6 yet. Assuming you're a diminutive man of 150lbs, you can legally drive your truck, as long as you're only wearing a wife beater, basketball shorts, and flip flops.

I would hope that if they had the money to do this modification that they would also beef up the frame/axle to handle more weight.

Personally, I would like to see a long bed with a dually. Nonetheless, I support anyone who wants to modify a vehicle and be unique. The rest of us drive cookie cutter Gladiators, which is fine, too.

No amount of beefing up the frame adds GVWR, that's set in stone the day the vehicle is built.

GVWR is irrelevant to me. I would want to beef up the frame and axle so the truck could handle higher loads.

I do a lot of towing with my 2015 and 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesels. The only data that I really look at are my axles limits at the CAT scales. For the most part, axle capacities are the limitations on light duty vehicles.

2015 Ram 1500 (front axle rating: 3,900 lbs)
2015 Ram 1500 (rear axle rating: 3,900 lbs)

2020 Ram 1500 (front axle rating: 3,900 lbs)
2020 Ram 1500 (rear axle rating: 4,100 lbs)

We don’t know any of the details for that 6x6 glady. It would be good to know them.

If it’s done properly/engineered correctly, ie with a proven pass through differential set and there was a plausible pathway to upgrade the GVM (there is here in AU)…if I had the resources I would have a 6x6 glady in a heart beat.

This prior review of a 200 series LC 6x6 (done properly) has some great pay offs. Check the comments on improvement to ride in very rough terrain.

Whilst the 200 LC is unquestionably a very very good vehicle, I’d rather have a 6x6 glady (with the right powertrain ie eco D or PHEV), any day of the week.

Why? Glady is a pure 4x4, with solid front end, plus can go topless. Yay.

The IFS front end on the pig ugly 200 LC rules it out for me. Zero interest.

I believe this LC 200 6x6 is/was done by the ex army guy behind Maxtrax traction boards.

The companies that do the 6x6’s properly here are JMAX and MDT. Bothe with completely differing but excellent / proven approaches.

oddly enough I am turning my SCX10ii Axial RC into a 6x6 Gladiator. Going to use this as a donor for the body.

If you have 8 inches you're a rockstar! If you can get the job done with less you're a legend!
