I think I'm going to skip this for the time being. Still seems so half baked, why is there a software component to something purely mechanical. They should have redesigned a better clutch.

Because there is still an electronic component to the manual transmission.
Are you talking about cruise cut off switch ?

I am talking about all the 4 or so clutch and shift solenoid position sensors feeding info to the PCM. There is still a software element in how the PCM interprets that data and adjust the power loading of the engine with the transmission.

Today I requested to have the 19A recall done on my 2021 Sport. The scheduler told me she had to order the parts first. So this prompted my next request. Please send me a list of the part numbers replaced when you perform 19A, The parts manager sent me this email

"Good afternoon, I received a note stating you wish to have a recall
parts list emailed over to you. Unfortunately that is something that
Chrysler does not allow us to do. If you'd like you can go to
https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls to see what the recall is and read about
it. But I will not give out any other information

Thank you

I think this is wrong to not provide a list of the part numbers used in a repair.
I called Jeep cares and they told me it was proprietary information.

Did anyone get a list of the part numbers replaced?
If so please post them.

I'm with you on this.
Think I'll wait until more of these recalls are completed and see how they turn out.
I've got 35k trouble free miles on my clutch now.
Don't need to jump out of the pan and into the fire.

There is probably a 95% chance all the part numbers they use will be on the service order receipt you receive when they do the recall as that is how they will bill Jeep out for the parts.

The Parts Manager is just being lazy but you really cannot force his hand. He does not care if you go elsewhere.

Safety Defect/Non Compliance Description and Safety Risk
The manual transmission clutch pressure plate on your vehicle may, in some circumstances, become overheated through friction, which may lead the pressure plate to rapidly fracture. When a pressure plate fractures, it may result in cracks or holes in the transmission case, allowing heated debris to be expelled from the transmission case. In some circumstances, the operator may smell a clutch odor and or clutch slippage prior to the failure and may receive cluster messaging. Heated debris expelled from the transmission bellhousing may come in contact with an ignition source in the vehicle or surrounding area, potentially leading to a fire. A fire can result in increased risk of occupant injury and injury to persons outside the vehicle.
Repair Description
Your dealer will replace the clutch assembly and update software to provide escalating visual and audible warnings to the operator, ultimately resulting in the potential reduction of engine torque capability when clutch assembly temperatures rise to a level that may damage the inner pressure plate. The estimated repair time is six hours.
Recall Status
Incomplete but repair parts are available

This is from the Transport Canada version of the recall. Spells out quite clearly that there is a software patch that can result in decreased engine torque when clutch temperature increases.

This is exactly the boat I'm in. I called Monday and they said they would not install an after market clutch but would replace mine with the Jeep recommendation. They said they would have to order the parts and would call me upon arrival, to schedule appt.

Makes me wonder if I'm doing the right thing.

The invoice should show the part numbers when you pick it up

Part numbers are listed in some of the nhtsa recall information. How these may correspond to other clutch kits, idk. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2023/RCRIT-23V116-5552.pdf

They look a little odd for usual mopar part numbers but this one claims to be the pressure plate and clutch disc and when you look it up it is on mopar parts websites. CSHP19A2AA

John, The information on the nhtsa recall site you provided is just what I was looking for from the dealer.

Thanks

I had zero issues with my OEM clutch after around 118k miles, but I figured I'd get a free clutch out of the deal.

Three things that sucked about this process:

1. They didn't tighten the front drive shaft bolts at the differential. The front fell off while I was driving down the road. Thankfully it didn't drag. I only noticed it because I was walking out to the Jeep and saw it hanging. I zip-tied it up and then took it back to the dealer and had them replace all the bolts.
2. When they completed installing the driveshaft bolts, the service guy jerked the parking brake up hard enough to make it pop loose. He didn't notice, but I did as soon as I got in. This is the third time this happened. I told them I'd fix it myself. I have come to regret that decision. Two days ago the Jeep was in the garage. I pressed the clutch with my left hand while outside of it just to get past the high idle portion while I was waiting on my kids. Normally I reach over and put it in neutral when I do this. This time I was wearing a cowboy hat and my head didn't fit under the steering wheel. I took the hat off, started it, and released the clutch enough to crash into both my freezers in the garage. Yes I'm dumb, but I've done this so many times. The hat got me. If the parking brake worked, it would have stalled. Thankfully the freezers still work, but they both got pierced. I don't know how I didn't bust an evaporator coil. I am so mat at myself.
3. After getting the new clutch, it does not easily shift into R or 1 half the time. I either have to force it or shift to 2 and then to R or 1. Now it seems I've taken a step backwards. Anyone else had this issue? I don't see any complaints in this thread. The original clutch was PERFECT. Smoothest shifting transmission ever.

I thought this recall was just about the clutch. Is there a recall regarding the transmission too?
